Out late last night watching the fireworks and decided to take it easy today. After a late start (noon) we headed down the coast to Gold Beach. Our road wound along the coastline with high mountains on one side and cliffs dropping down to the crashing surf on the other. We passed many lovely beaches and turn-out viewing spots.
We stopped at the Tu Tu Ton Lodge on the Rouge River. This lodge is listed as one of the "1,000 Places To See Before You Die." Very posh and $$$. We went down to the river dock and watched the boats go by. Very relaxing, peaceful, and picturesque. We saw a deer meandering around on the golf course; it seemed to be his home.
We continued on and arrived at our destination; Gold Beach. After checking into our hotel on the beach, we heard about a fabulous restaurant - Mangia Buff, an Italian eatery in town. With all the seafood we have been eating, we thought a change would do us good. The chef is the owner and he waits on you personally. While he does have a menu, he will cook to order. He explained to us that

Awesome resort on the Rouge River Mangia Buff translates to
"Eat Naked". As our eyebrows raised he explained that the freshness and quality of the food is what is naked...
not the customers. It was an outstanding meal.
We decided that we want to eat naked more often! We close our day with a magnificent sunset and the crashing waves lulling us to sleep.
