This morning we picked up our free coffee and danishes and fruit then chose a bench on "The Prom" to eat breakfast in the morning sun by the ocean. After a short walk across the sand to the water, we returned to quickly load up the car and head out down the coastline again. We are sure enjoying all of the roly-poly, narrow winding roads going in and out of all the state parks, under the heavy tunnel-like canopy of trees. Even Hwy. 101 is a great curvy little highway that the Miata just seems to purr along on. And the convertible is perfect for the spectacular heat wave we're having here on the coast. It's supposed to be up into the 90's fahrenheit today and tomorrow. Our first stop today was Ecola State Park to ... read more

Cure for the Stumptown Blues When I find myself under the unrelenting mist darkening the windows of my Portland apartment or slogging down the damp streets with feet wet to the socks I tend to get a little down, way down, low down in stumptown. We’ve all been there. So I head to the coin star (because like most young Portlanders I am poor) and fill my tank with gas, because there is still one place that my doldrums cannot follow me. Just one leisurely drive and another world away from the realities of day-to-day city life and in my personal case the hopeless search for gainful employment. So, last Saturday my husband Paul and I took of on the short trip from Portland to Depoe Bay. This time of year most of the little stands ... read more

Todd, Jennifer, Bryson and Brooklyn joined us at the beach on Sunday evening and stayed through Tuesday morning. We had a sunny day followed by a beautiful sunset (posted below) and a breezy day. The cold water and breeze did not stop Bryson and Brooke from jumping ocean waves. The dogs, Boomer and Silver, loved running on the beach. We had a wonderful, relaxing time - visiting and playing cards. Terry and I will be taking Hwy 101 down the Oregon coast to Medford on Tuesday morning to get as many views as possible of the Pacific shoreline.... read more

Depoe Bay, Oregon is a quaint and quiet resort town 10 miles south of Lincoln City, OR. We had both rain and sunshine throughout the weekend as we relaxed with Scott, Julie, Camryn, and Addison in a beautiful beach house 1/2 block from the Ocean. We could see the ocean waves from our balcony and sat on the beach with kids, dogs, kites, and rain jackets a few times. Today is Julie's birthday. The girls and Nana made cupcakes this morning. Scott and family (and dogs) head back home this afternoon. Todd and family (and dogs) arrive tonight for two nights. Enjoying the green and the cool - not tired of it yet. Texas heat can wait.... read more
