Riding to the Bandon lighthouse at Bullards State Park in Bandon Oregon.

“No hour of life is wasted that is spent in the saddle.”
~Winston S. Churchill

One of my favorites things to do is trail ride. Something about riding out on the trail that just clears your mind from any stress that may be going on in your daily life. Summer 2011 I got to have two of my friends join me that have never ridden on the beach. An Bandon was the perfect place to take them. First day we rode at Bullards Beach which has a great spot to horse camp or just bring a RV to camp with your family an friends they also have Yurts for rent which are pet friendly too. If you would rather stay at a motel check out Inn at Facerock "best western" http://www.innatfacerock.com their pet friendly too an only an a minute walk to the beach. http://www.oregonstateparks.org/park_71.php

Bullards beach has trails through brush, dunes, an even a trail right up to the lighthouse. Early spring can be nice to ride if your trying to get your horse use to crossing water.

Make sure you know the trail before riding during the spring, there can be some unexpected deep holes along the way. An be very cautious, majority of the time you can't see down into the water, its pitch black. So to the horse it can be very scary, take your time an be safe.

You can also ride at the South Jetty across the harbor from Bullards Beach. There are several places up an down the coast of Oregon to trail ride. Another nice spot to trail ride is T-Dock in North Bend Oregon. T-dock is located north of North Bend, once you leave North Bend take a left after the bridge an drive to the end of the road. There is parking along side the road. Be careful during the holidays it can be packed with several ATVs since t-dock is part of the northwest dunes. If you feel like taking a ATV ride out on the dunes, contact Dune Riders ATV 541-680-1605 http://duneridersatv.com

After a long day of trail riding take a nice walk through Old Town an enjoy some Ice Cream at the Big Wheel Fudge Factory, their fudge is fantastic too. Also don't

forget to stop by Bandon Sweets an Treats an fill your bags full of goodies. One of my favorites. http://www.bandonsweetsandtreats.com

If you still have some extra time on your hands drive south of town to West Coast Game Park, where you can say hello to Max a beautiful Red Macaw when you first walk in. During the summer months, you will get a chance to pet a baby tiger or leopard. Take a stroll through the park an meet some of the locals. There is some food in the gift shop for the deer an goats wondering around the zoo, but be careful those locals sure do love their food. http://gameparksafari.com

If you feel like a drive along highway 101 head south an stop in crescent city at their local aquarium an pet a leopard shark http://www.oceanworldonline.com/
an a little further you'll come across http://www.treesofmystery.net/ trees of mystery where you can take a ride through the redwoods.
