Day 2 - West Memphis, AR to Del City, OK

We headed out really early this AM at 5 to TRY and beat the heat. Didn't work. Other than the heat, it was an uneventful day since we were trying to make some miles toward cooler weather. Stopped at a Cracker Barrel for a late breakfast somewhere in Oklahama. We did find out that Oklahoma is a long state. We went through every Indian Nation imaginable: Cherokee, Creek, Seminole, Kickapoo, you name it. George said he wouldn't care to be from a tribe called Kickapoo and anything else associated with Poo. I agreed.

Had to make a stop at a Wal-mart. We had held out for a whole day. I left my new cooling bandana at the motel and REALLY missed it. Of course, they were out. I got worried about Piper getting too hot so she and George sat just inside Wal-mart while I looked for the darn bandana.

We finally arrived at the La Quinta around 2PM and guess what! We're right next to Wal-mart. So yes, I walked over to this one and found my bandana! YEA! Bought a footlong ham and cheese on cheddar bread sandwich and shared with George when I got back.

Looks like we make run into thunderstorms tomorrow so gave in and made another motel reservations. At least it's one of the historic motels on Route 66. Should be interesting anyway.
