At the Fair
Lulu & Friends Breakfast at Bob Evans began our day. Gotta love that place and their food. The waitress was the one who planted the County Fair in to our plan for the day. It was located just a couple miles down the pike. Yippee......everyone loves a Fair. We were guided by horseback to our parking spot at the Wayne County Fair (Wooster, Ohio). Many of the barns were closed off due to showing but we managed to see some of the animals.....Lulu adopted all of them. No chickens and ducks cause of the threat of bird flu. We walked a thousand miles (Sandy's Fitbit said 3+ miles) ....who can you believe? My throbbing legs or her technical device? We enjoyed the various display buildings.....so much to see. More drool. We watched a tractor pull (my first)..noisy and smokey....but interesting. I would much rather watch this kind of pull then a horse pull. I hate those...too punishing on the poor horses. I even felt kind of bad for the tractors, though. They just ran theirs motors until they couldn't run anymore. I think I like seeing the farm animals best of all. They are kept clean and comfy. Lulu was so excited being at
the fair. She found so many backdrops for her beauty shots. We almost changed her name to Alice Grossjean. She seems to be in an identity crisis at times. After Sam wore off the tread on his scooter wheels and we had walked our legs down to nubs, we decided it was time to move on. Weary and dusty but happy as we scampered back to the car..not Lulu. She travels in my cloth carry bag.
Over the rolling hills we flew (getting a bit more comfortable with these horrific paths) until we screeched to a stop when we came upon Yoder's Antique Mall. Very nice shop. Sandy has been looking for a cast iron skillet to make her famous skillet apple pie in. Luck was with her...she found one. We picked up a couple small trinkets.....just gifts. Nothing that puts us back into the business. After Cory gave our name and address for our purchase to the Amish owner, the owner said he knew where Shongo was. NO ONE knows where Shongo is! This was a shocker. There is an Amish man and his daughter who live just 1/4 miles down the road from us in Shongo. This
Lulu loves sheep
Lulu milks a plastic cow Ohio man was friends with him. Again, what a small world. He told Cory to tell the man about this encounter. He will. Just remember, no matter where you go, you can never hide.
Time to feed our faces. We've been on the go all day and forgot to eat. Except for Sam. We keep a stash of Lorna Doones in our car just for him. He loves Lorna's. His favorites! We ended up back in the region of the wonderful Der Dutchman restaurant. Their big buffet was offered today so we did not hesitate to order it. Just like being at the "trough" (Golden Corral) again ......way too much food but you still try to stuff as much in as you can....just because you can! Perhaps that is why my sweatshirt is starting to fit like a tank top!
Refreshed and strong, one last place to stop while in this area. The Walnut Creek Antique Mall. I think I'm confused about these antique malls.....we went to so many. In the 2nd blog of this trip, I labeled one of the pictures being from the Walnut Creek Mall. It must have been another one cause this one we
Stylish Sam
Sam & Cory on Chippewa St. (used to be red district in Buffalo) just went to was the Walnut Creek Antique Mall. Just like other things.....they all look alike. Or maybe, it was just a wonderful Amish shopping store. I don't know! Fortunately, I can still pass the 3 word Alzheimers test...whew. No matter, what I do remember is that Sandy found another and better cast iron skillet for her pie. She bought it. My eyes are blurred....so much to see and drool over. Glad to still have some strength left because Sandy and I had one more event to attend: the premier of Dancing With the Stars. Why is that show so addicting? Not sure that Gary B. has the talent to stay in the running .....he's not too smooth on his feet. But better than Lulu...she has no feet. She can only drag her head around on the dance floor.
Another night of instantaneous sleep. I think I slept with my eyes open cause I was too tired to close them. ?????Can't find that one certain item you've been searching for forever? I know you will find it tomorrow as you mosey along with us on our last day of fun and frolic. See you then.
