On June 30, my family and I arrived at Camper Village, Cedar Point. On July 1st, we went to Cedar Point Amusement Park. We rode Millenium Force, Power Tower, and Mean Streak. After that, we had lunch. I was beginning to feel nauseous, so I didnt join my family when the went on Magnum XL 200. Instead, I had an enormous snowcone larger than my head. My brother began to feel ill as well, so we went back to the camper while our parents rode the terrifying Dragster, at 120 mph.... read more

Here we are...getting ready for our trip. It's our first visit to Thailand and our first time blogging. Definitely lots of new things to learn. Right now I'm testing out this potential blog site for the trip. Friends and family- what do you think??? I'll add more content such as pictures, maps, countdown clocks, etc. when I learn what I'm doing. For now, wish me luck packing and crossing things off my To Do list...... read more

After leaving Niagara falls (and getting a tiny bit lost...) we continued our drive through New York, Pennsylvania, and into Ohio. Just past Cleveland is a little college town called Oberlin, where our friend Will goes to school. It was finals time at school there, and everyone was very busy (it felt good to be done, again) but we got a chance to see some of the sites. The conservatory there is world famous, and boasts to have the most Steinway pianos under one roof, anywhere in the world.... read more

I can't believe my trip is coming up so soon!? I'm very excited about it (and just a little bit nervous), but I still have so much left to do: Get some Euros Call my credit card company's to let them know I'm going to be spending internationally, so they don't think it's fraud... very important key, because I plan to spend too much money over there Buy some international phone cards Buy more outfits that I don't need lol Lots of other things I know I am forgetting AND MOST IMPORTANTLY: figure out how I am going to fit all the clothes, shoes, and accessories that I want to bring with me into my two suitcases!! But onto other FUN trip details: I'm leaving Tuesday at 11 and will arrive in Madrid the next morning ... read more

Officially, I leave a week from today! I can not wait to leave, it is so surreal to finally be studying abroad, because I have been talking about this since High School. I still do not have everything ready, but I have always been a procrastinator. I bought my Eurail pass for the trains yesterday and tomorrow I'm buying luggage. Mrs. Caraboolad, Alana, and I went shopping and out to lunch today, which was a blast. I got some great outfits for Spain! I really want to fit in over there. I know I clearly do not look Spanish, with the blonde hair and pasty skin and all, but I do not want to look like a tourist. Also today, I bought a travel wallet that has room for my passport and all that good stuff. ... read more

Finished West Virginia a few weeks ago and spent a week in DC finishing the computerized part of my work. I am now in the Cleveland area taking some time off before I enter Tennessee. I've been upgrading my vehicle's suspension, brakes and interior space to make the next part of my trip more efficient and comfortable. I've learned a lot about how to do this job better, and countless more about this country and people in general. These pics are from my month in West Virginia.... read more

Ok, so now that I've finally got all my info I can write something up. There was considerable stress on my part as I got my visa THIS Tuesday. Oh yes, I leave on the 28th and I just then got my visa. Blargh to that. But it's all good now, and I'm nice and legal. So after the nightmares about my luggage being stolen by my father so I have no stuff and then at the airport realizing I have no passport or visa (yes, I did in fact have this exact nightmare) came the worrying about the host family. You see, we were supposed to get all of this together, about 3 weeks before the program starts. That didn't happen. I got my COE about 2 weeks before and the final mailing on Monday. ... read more

Weather has changed to enough cooler that we feel quite at home. Tonight, when wandering after sunset we almost needed a light jacket. We started the day with visits again to the Kirtland Temple for a tour of that building owned and managed by the Reorganized Church or what is now called The Community of Christ Church. It was most interesting, of course, to be conducted through three floors of meeting rooms and see how it was constructed in the 1830's. Of course we have a few interest stories. One occurred as we were walking through the temple gardens next to the street when we were subject to a dive-by yelling heard from a man in a white half-on truck holler something containing the word 'Mormon's and a phrase involving 'anti-christ'. We assume he was speaking ... read more

Tonight we rest in Ohio, near Kirtland. It was a day of driving ..... about 6 hours. Weather was hot and humid again but the car was cool and comfortable. And the camera worked today!! After leaving the batteries out of it and letting it cool off overnight, it worked. My theory is that heat and humidity affect the little switch somehow. Anyway, I've got a few pictures again today. We did visit briefly the Kitland Temple site and also the visitors center. Tomorrow we'll do a little more thorough job. And tonight we drove about 5 miles north to the edge of the Town of Mentor which is adjacent to Kirtland, and right on Lake Erie. There was a little park there that had been closed since last week when these folks had a downpour ... read more
