We put off our honeymoon to go to our friends' commitment ceremony in Oberlin, Ohio. The ceremony was lovely, and the reception good fun. We ended the night at the Feve, the local Oberlin bar, where we ate many tater tots, and Jonathan ruined all conversation by getting everyone to work on his new logic puzzles. In the picture, you can see that I've cut my hair since the wedding. I like it. There will be many more pictures of it on the trip.... read more

After Rock & Roll Hall of Fame I went to Lake View Cemetery . For some reason I like to visit cemeteries. I like to look at the memorials, the stones, and read the epitaph and imagine what their lives were like. Lake View Cemetery is one of the popular ones, probably in the country. Home to the 20th President of the USA...Garfield's Monument, Wade Chapel, and the Collinwood School Fire memorial where 172 children died and it helped propelled fire safety measures throughout the country.... read more

On my drive to Minnesota. I made a point at stopping in Cleveland, Ohio for the sole purpose of going to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame....for the sole purpose of the Michael Jackson and Jackson 5 display. Do not get me wrong, I was looking forward to other displays as well especially the oldies like Elvis, Louie Armstrong "Satchmo", Little Anthony, Dave Clark Five, Miles Davis, the Mamas and the Papas, Nat King Cole, the Dells, the Motown Sound, and others like Madonna, Van Halen, U2, Bob Segar, Prince, Queen, etc. I LOVE music, especially past music. But Michael Jackson is on a whole other level. Words cannot describe the connection for Michael Jackson. Which has a lot to do with after 1991. I was about 13 at the time. I hear this song ... read more

We hit the road and headed for Cleveland where we hoped we would find more to do than in Buffalo. After a couple of hours driving we drive through Cleveland, it wasn't better than Buffalo and there was no way we were going to park the car and leave it with all of our stuff in it! So we headed on through and found a hotel with pool and gym so hit the treadmills and pool and then headed out for dinner and beers in preparation for Detroit the next day!... read more

I am still trying to unpack from my apartment in Pittsburgh. There is an awful ... read more

I have had a great couple of days here in the Cleveland area. Two nights ago we stayed in a small town on Lake Erie just west of Cleveland called Lakewood. Kristen had a bad cold and some pink eye, so we visited the local hospital in the morning to get some antibiotics, but she is fine now. We then rolled over to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I honestly thought that we could motor through this museum in a couple of hours, but we found ourselves staying there for four hours. Kristen then found the house that was filmed in the movie A Christmas Story. They still have the famous leg lamp and Christmas tree in the windows. Now the owners run tours, but unfortunately we went on a day they were closed. ... read more

After a week on campus I headed up to Cleveland to see my friends and family. I stayed with my sister Stacie, who was in the process of moving to Nashville so part of my vacation was spent helping her clean ad pack. I got to spend time with my mom and Elaine and my grandmothers, see my dad, aunts, uncles and cousins, and see my friends from high school. The trip was just too short to do everything I wanted to do. I really want to go country line dancing and go karaoke-ing next trip. But I DID get to go to Cracker Barrel...twice!! I went once for breakfast (yummm...hash brown casserole!) and once for dinner (is there anything better than Cracker Barrel's Chicken and Dumplings?). On my last night I took my mom and ... read more

What's hot: The New England Patriots wall at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, OH. What's also hot: Two nights at the same hotel. Also hot: World's largest AAA Travel office--where they're lined up seven deep. Paul speculates: "Many Ohioans are trying to leave in a hurry." What's not: The hotel room movie "10000 BC" Travel lesson of the day: Make sure you have plenty of Internet log-in options wherever you go. from Kathy: People ask: How can you be away from work for so long? Answer: We're not. We're sort of mobile telecommuters. I worked about nine hours yesterday, battling bad Internet connections all the way. While the men went to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, I stayed behind. Paul has been returning calls and writing reports as we travel, too. ... read more
