I just looked down for maybe a minute (doing a puzzle - Hidato), and almost missed - DOG RIVER, Saskatchewan! I didn't know it was there! If you don't know Dog River, you must not have seen "Corner Gas" (http://www.cornergas.com/), which is a funny, happy, quirky Canadian sit-com...try to find it on re-runs! (The real town is Rouleau, SK, but the sign on the grain silo is "Dog River". ACROSS THE NORTHERN TIER Yesterday we were in the valley town of Missoula, Montana. We shared a lovely meal at an exotic restaurant called "The Silk Road" with Jane Richards, the sister of my good friend Bill Johnson. She has lived in that college town for a long time and knows all the good places! The town is completely surrounded by white capped mountains, but has a milder climate due to the large valley that it nestles down into. We headed up, out of the valley and continued to climb as we drove east, eventually crossing over the continental divide and down into the wide open range lands of eastern Montana. Wow, no wonder they call it "Big Sky Country", you can see for miles and miles and we had a nice clear day at appreciate ... read more

My thoughts on North Dakota: North Dakota is a very pretty state, lots of farmland, very green, very clean. The people of North Dakota we've met are friendly and all seem enthusiastic about their state. I guess that it shows in how well cared for everything looks. No litter. Neat yards. Neat farms. I guess "tidy" is the word. North Dakotans love their home and they take care of it. How truly nice. We stopped in New Salem to see "New Salem Sue" the world's biggest holstein cow. It was recommended that we stop to see her by more than one person. In Jamestown we went to the Frontier Village and saw their "World's Largest Buffalo" and their 3 rare white buffalo. While on the interstate today, I counted up how many times we crossed ... read more

Well hi there y'all: Gotta practice my southern drawl for when I get to North Carolina! Are you impressed, Leshia? Well my day started off rather painfully. My master slid his chair back from the table this morning, right on the end of my tail, and it took a small piece off! Boy, did I yelp and let him know what he had done! They tried to get the blood flow stopped and put a band-aid on! Did you ever have someone try to put a band-aid on your hairy tail? Anyway, once we got in the car and on our way, I got it cleaned up myself and the blood stopped. Now it looks rather cute, as you will see in the pic. Once we were on our way we had a good trip. In ... read more

Greetings all: Well quite an uneventful day for the most part today! A couple of interesting items though. We stopped for a coffee at a place called Caribou Coffee! It was a place on a par with Starbucks, complete with free wi-fi! However notice the selection of washroom facilities they offered us!! (see pic!) Not really - they had the real things! Then down the road a ways, we came upon the back of truck you see pictured! Yup - Samaritan's Purse! That was cool enough, but then we noticed who was hauling the trailer!! Paul Brandt Trucking! Who is Paul Brandt? Only the premiere country singer in Canada!! Add to that that he and his wife are devoted believers, as well as heavily involved in Samaritan's Purse, but also with World Vision! You can learn ... read more

Well, here's the biggest buffalo one can see in the world, I guess. Located at the National Buffalo Museum/Frontier Village in Jamestown, ND. The "artifical" buffalo is 26 feet high and 46 feet long. It is a 60 ton concrete monument and was dedicated in 1959. Overlooks the city of Jamestown and its prairie hills. There's also a live buffalo herd in residence roaming throughout the hills which also includes a rare white albino buffalo called "White Cloud". I always enjoy seeing these creatures who still look like they probably did centuries ago. Much, much bigger in person. You wouldn't want one of them mad at you. Frontier Village is an old time Village featuring a variety of shops and displays about the wild, old west days. Also includes some art galleries and historical references as ... read more
