This was my first trip this year to the International Peace Garden. Located with half on the US and half on the Canadian side, the Garden has a number of flowers, fountains and floral arrangements. Also has a Peace chapel and some other memorials. Unfortunately, it looks like they had just made some flower transplants from their spring to summer flowers so the floral arrangements weren't as filled out as usual and all the fountains weren't running yet. The Garden was still very pretty with a wonderful blue sky. Very tranquil and peaceful. A line runs throughout the Garden marking the US-Canadian border.... read more

Despite living in North Dakota most of my life, I'm ashamed to admit that I have never before been to the International Peace Garden. Decided to finally take care of that. The Garden is located on the US-Canadian border with an equal half on both sides. 2007 is its 75th Anniversary having been dedicated in 1932. Construction on the Garden actually started in 1934 and was built primarily by the Civilian Conservation Corps of the United States. According to a brochure provided, the workers continued working at the site until the calling of World War II. The Garden is almost 2,400 acres in total.
