Slade Creek, NC to Beaufort, NC

Nov 13. Slade Creek, NC to Beaufort, NC
We left Slade Creek on Pungo River, NC (St M 140) at 0645. We went across Palmico River to Goose Creek Island. At 0900 went entered Bay River. At 0950 we cut across the junction with Neuse River. The rip currents became pretty strong there. At 1150 we entered Adams Creek which was one of the most beautiful sights of the voyage. Incredible trees all over. Non touched land by civilization just a few houses on the west side.
We left the ICW to go towards Vito’s anchorage spot near Beaufort, NC. Pretty tricky to get there, the markers had been changed in the last few years and we couldn’t follow paper or navigational.
We were waiting for the 1430 opening of the Beaufort Bridge and we got dragged by the current into a shallow spot where the submerged pilings are. We thought we were stock but we weren’t. Vitto turned off the engines. The current switch around and got us out of there the same way it got us in. Maybe we touched ground by it wasn’t serious just a propeller wipe off.
We anchored at 34 42.44 N 76 39.2 W on Taylor Creek by Beaufort, NC. (Close to St M 205)
We logged 56 nm and 65 St M today.
