The Cashie (pronounced ca-shy-a) River Treehouses and Campground was a spartan but interesting site. A boardwalk along the river provided access to several cabins on stilts with trees growing through the cabins. We made a road trip from here to the Outer Banks. Nags Head was a colorful tourist trap. We parked the Jeep and walked a short distance to the ocean. The Wright Brothers National Memorial at Kill Devils Hill was a highlight of our southern journey. Standing right where powered flight was launched makes the hairs on your arms stand up. Truly inspirational! The members of Cashie Baptist Church (est. 1770) warmly welcomed us Sunday morning. NOMADS UNITE It really feels like the start of summer. The weather is warm and things are changing. Jane and I have been living a somewhat nomadic lifestyle for the last three years. Traveling and working is several different locations. Now that we are living on a yacht we can really feel the freedom of our gypsy lifestyle. One of our good friends has decided to adopt a similar traveler existence. I helped Bill go and pick up his new RV yesterday. He is in the process of downsizing, selling off his excess possessions and moving out of his apartment. He will be moving "aboard" full time very soon. Edenton, NC After a brilliant warm day in the Kitty Hawk, NC area, we woke to a gray overcast day with a few sprinkles. Today we are heading to Edenton, NC, the first permanent settlement in NC and location of the Edenton Tea Party. Yes a tea party, but nothing like our current Tea Party. This tea party was: 1 – organized and carried out by the WOMEN of Edenton; 2 – did not include dumping tea into the harbor, but rather a boycott of East India Tea; 3- it was led by the wife of the British Tax Agent in Edenton. We took a tour through the streets of Edenton visiting historical buildings and learning about the early history of Edenton.
