Destination - Belhaven, NC Left anchorage in the Alligator River at 8:30 AM Arrived in Belhaven at 3:30 Went down the Alligator-Pongo Canal. Saw dolfin at teh mouth of the canal in 12 feet of water. It took three hours to get through teh canal. Got a slip in Belhaven to charge up batteries etc. Played with the dinghy motor and decided it would have to go to the shop. I may have to shell out money for a new motor. I plan on anchoring out tomorrow just before the Neuse River. Should be a short day. Then a long day across the Neuse River to another anchor and then to Beaufort , NC. to probably another marina. Did I tell you my budget is already blown. ... read more

Destination- Coinjock, NC Departed from Portsmouth, Va at 7:30 AM Arrived in Coinjock at 4:30 PM Left in a line of boats. We all congregated at the Gilmerton Bridge in Norfolk, Va. Waited thirty minutes for it to open I counted 22 boats. We all left in a line until we stacked up again at bridges and locks. I think I heard the loud speaker at the locks say that there were 43 boats that had gone through before us and there were probably 20 in the locks when I went through. That was at Great Bridge, Va. From there it was a grueling ride for hours until it opened out into Coinjock Sound when the wind picked up to 25 knots. I put up the jib for a while and got 7 knots. Most of ... read more

Well, it's been a while since we published, but we went on a NON-RV trip to the outer banks over Labor Day and folks kept asking, "Where's your blog?" So I decided to post. Here is the story and some pix of the trip. My younger brother called in July and invited my wife and I, and our daughter, to join him in the outer banks. He often gets a rental house there, or Myrtle Beach, or somewhere else on the ocean, and has others join to share the cost. We had planned to go to Assateague a week later, but decided to see the OBX and have a mini-family reunion. My brother is 15 years younger and we have never had a chance to spend much time together, so it sounded like fun. AND it ... read more
