Beaufort town docks, Main St. stores and shops
We left Elizabeth City and travelled to Oriental, NC via Albemarle Sound, the Alligator River, Pungo River & canal, across the Pamlico River, through Goose Creek to the Neuse River.

Peter and Guy came over for diner when we anchored at East Lake near the entrance to the Alligator River, which we all enjoyed. Irish was nice and warm and it has been very cold these weeks.

About 3 miles out of Oriental harbor a pulley on the engine which drives the waterpump sheared off. Gene called Deaton Marine, the Yanmar dealer in Oriental, to order the part. They actually had the part in stock and sent it out via Tow Boat US, Gene had the old part off and the new one on in 15 minutes and we went in to anchor. Amazing good fortune! The next day we stopped at Deaton on the way to the grocery to thank them for their service. They are a thoughtful, large, very impressive, family run operation. e.g. The owner was driving out for lunch and offered us a ride to the store.

In Bear Creek at the junction of the Neuse River I lost my glasses overboard. My backup

Sunday low tide
pair isn't good enough to read small print so yesterday we went to Spooners Creek,an anchorage in Morehead City ½ mile walk to a Super Wal-Mart, Food Lion, Sears, Lowes, etc. I ordered new glasses to be be delivered to the Wal=Mart near Myrtle Beach, SC since it takes about a week to get them. Then we moved back about 6 miles to Beaufort which is a lovely spot. We're hoping for some good weather to sail to Southport at the Cape Fear River entrance.
