At a rest stop on the way to Asheville, NC.
On October 5, 2014 we loaded up and headed to Asheville NC to spend a month there to see the fall colors come to the mountains. It was 185 miles to Taps RV in Asheville. We saw some pretty sights as we got into the mountains and we could smell the fresh mountain air. We started to see a few hints of fall colors on a tree here and there. It was great to pull into Taps RV park and the park was cool. The owner Bill helped guide us into the spot - it was a little tight. We got set up and noticed you could see some cool views of the mountains from the park. Taps RV on Yelp:

One thing we found cool at this park was that in short walking distance there were a number of cool restaurants and a gas station and even a great produce market. It was very convenient when you didn't want to go to town or the grocery store.

We shortly found the cool river running right behind our rig and after a rain, it got moving right along. Also we soon learned there is a train track not far behind the park that had a few trains a day and night that were fun to listen to as they cliketyclaked and shrieked by.

The owner of the RV park - Bill was friendly and helpful and always had great stories to tell. The park was not big but we had enough room and we liked the location and views. We noted all kinds of rigs from old to brand new and big to very small. There were a number of full timers there and everyone was very friendly. The site was a gravel base and had a small cement pad for the picnic table there.

Our RV park was about 1/4 mile from the entrance to the Blue Ridge Pkwy and it sure is beautiful on there heading north or south.

Asheville is a beautiful city and was very dog friendly. We could take Chop into most stores and most restaurants had an outside dog friendly seating area. We were even invited inside a few places with the dog when the weather wasn't great. Asheville is a great town with lots of art and cool people. More on Asheville soon.

One of the Restaurants near our RV Park was Cocula - a Mexican restaurant and they had great food and nice cold draft beer. Also the crew there was friendly and fun to visit. Cocula on Yelp:

Another place close that we liked was Gondolier - an Italian place that had great pizza, pasta, salads, sandwiches and even mussels.
