Ya know, seeing all of these were amazing! I noticed though, that on TV and movies they make the Statue of Liberty a lot bigger then it is. But she's beautiful! And Broadway.... amazzzzing. ... read more

Leaving NYC today. Stayed at my brother's place on the upper East side. Monday night we went out and had some german food and beer w/ John (whose last day at work is this Friday) and my brother. Yesterday Sherry and I ate at Red Bamboo, one of her favorite veggie restaurants. I had the soy chops and they were pretty darn good, like schnitzel. We then took a walk down through Soho and across the Brooklyn Bridge to Brooklyn Heights. Celebrity sightings yesterday: * The guy that plays the lead in 'Blind Justice', sorry no picture. Eating at Red Bamboo. * Reggie C, aka Mr. Move, again sorry no picture. Standing on a corner in Brooklyn. Reggie C is actually a friend of a friend of Sherry's. He's a self-described white booty rapper, and we ... read more

Hi Folks, Today's pace didn't let up much but at least we got to really sleep for the first time since Sunday night. It really lat now so I'll put off posting more pics until tomorrow but a brief recap of the day goes like this. Rise and shine to go over to Murray and Lore's for a fabulous breakfast of bagels, lox, sable, and fresh fruit. They were headed back to Pennsylvania so we wanted to see them before they left. Then Judy drove us to Queens where we visited the cemetery. I forgot all my info on where people are buried so we just saw our own grandparents but will have to go back to locate the others we were going to look for. Then we met Jason Hecht at his mom's on 137th ... read more

Talk about amazing! So, I was a representative for Califonria at the United Nations in New York.. it was such an amazing experience. I met a lot of interesting people and heard a lot of interesting talks. The group (it was people from all over the world) attended meetings and we got to ask questions and put in our in-put. I've always been into Humanitarian Aid... so I enjoyed the meetings. There were a few stories that really stuck in my mind though... One man that talked (I believe he was from France....) was talking about children... mostly kids involved in the drug wars in third world countries. He was saying the the newest way for someone to smuggle drugs into another country is to kill a kid, empty them out, and fill their insides with ... read more

Day 9! Its my last day in New York! I can't believe I've made it this far alone! But before I head to Boston I stopped by the Intrepid Air & Space Museum to see some planes and submarines. Afterwards I dashed over to check out Ground Zero and it’s just a big empty space right now. It’s so weird to see it so empty and open. Its huge yet its so small. I can't quite describe it. I finally made it to the Amtrak station and luckily it was running late again so I was able to get on my train with ease and without having to rush. I headed to Boston and caught glimpses on Connecticut and Rhode Island beaches. I should take a driving tour sometime in the future. I kind of like ... read more

Day 8! I spent all day at The Metropolitan Museum. One could spend a whole week there though! There is so much to see and do. I started off in the Egyptian section and three hours later I realized I had been trying to read every single little info card and it was driving me crazy! So much Egyptian history! How much of it is just random crap? Still, it was nice to see. I've always had a fascination with mythology ever since I was young so it was great to see all these relics and historical crap. I also saw some armor I would fit in! Henry the VIII's armor was awesome and not that fat. I thought he'd be fatter. Still, it was cool seeing a molded belly instead of a molded six-pack one ... read more

Day 7 It’s been the most action packed day EVER! I started my morning with a fancy breakfast at a ritzy looking place and then took a walk through Central Park. The park is filled with plenty of nooks and crannies. My favorite place was visiting the Angel Fountain. Afterwards I went over to the Guggenheim where they didn't allow me to take pictures of any of the art but I saw plenty of Mapplethorp prints anyway! Then I headed over to the piers to take my cruise around Manhattan. It was a three-hour tour. I got to see the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge up close but the rest of the tour was sort of boring. Too much sun and after a while all the buildings start looking alike. Still the New York ... read more

4th juy was Independence day, i was interested to see what this day was all about. At camp each country had to do a performance of some sort which represented their country. Us kiwis (theres about 20 of us) got the groove on to Scribe, and that 'Stop, Drop and Roll' song, did the Haka, and 2 maori songs. Everyone loved it...of course! as for the aussies...well! the owner of camp said 'that for two countries so close together, how can one have so much talent, and the other none?!' yay for us! haha. After our performances we had a musical concert - very patriotic, and then a huge fire works display - very cool. Was a good night. After all this I was dragged up to the CC by Sam the aussie and Jacq the ... read more

I went all 'Great Romanticism Poet Movement of the 19-20th Century' with the title, though not meaning to. Basically, it means that I'm starting to tire of this little island. Not in the bad way, and when I say tire I don't exactly mean that I'm beginning to wish I wasn't here, but in fact it means my body is beginning to see the effects that the 24 hour lifestyle (And I'm talking the real 24 hours, not the Tesco is open 24 hours kind of lifestyle) is having on me. Being placed in front of mega enormous advertising signs and sitting in coffee shops with other regular people at any hour of the day is really difficult to get a hold of, and until now it has only been my adrenaline that has kept me ... read more
