Hi all, Well the blog is a bit late, but better late than never aye? So... after spending Xmas up in Newcastle with Kristin's sister Ann, and the boys, we finally got on the plane on the 28th bound for NYC. On arriving in NYC at around 11pm local time, we headed straight for the hotel. The hotel is in a fantastic position, right on the park on the upper west side. Unfortunately it would seem that an arm and a leg doesn't buy you much in Manhatten so we were greeted with a room barely big enough to hold the bed! Not to worry, we weren't planning on spending much time in there. On the morning of the 29th I awoke somewhat early to the sound of heavy rain above us? I took a quick ... read more

It's definitely THAT time of year. The bells are ringing (the random Santas on street corners who stand there with buckets are the main proponents of these), the children are singing (actually, crying their eyes out in shops is probably more accurate) and everyone else is spending far more than they ought to, anywhere they can! Everyone with a screen name on MSN has changed it to something "comically festive" (guilty), and the everyone starts paying each other a lot more attention at work, just in case you end up as their secret santa. HAPPY HOLIDAYS, THE AMERICAN WAY! Actually it bears a striking resemblance to a British Christmas, except that, believe it or not, decorations go up later than in the UK. I think it has something to do with Thanksgiving - they seem to ... read more

Unbelievable sights, indescribable feelings, soaring, tumbling, revealing through an endless diamond sky. A whole new world, a hundred thousand things to see, I’m like a shooting star I’ve come so far, I cant go back to where I used to be. A whole new world, with new horizons to pursue, I’ll chase them anywhere, there’s time to spare, let me share this whole new world with you… A Whole New World - Aladdin How perfect is that quote? If you didn't read it, read it now. It pretty much sums up my thoughts and feelings. The voyage is over which is sad, but the journey has just begun. I made it back to Buffalo safely and in one piece. My mom came to San Digeo to pick me up and we spent a couple days there. ... read more

We have just left NYC after a week of non stop madness. I have been trying so hard to be good and keep this blog up to date but it is just not working so I am going to try and do a week in one go and then stay up to date for the rest of our trip (keep your fingers crossed!). Our NYC experience started off with a 2 hours wait on the tarmack at JFK airport due to a snow storm and back log as they tried to get the ice and snow off departing planes etc... a very exciting start. Our first day we went to see the New York Knicks play in Madisson Square Garden which was very exciting - for Tim... no it was great, although after only two hours ... read more

Well after a few false starts hopefully this will be the beginning of my first proper journal entry. We landed in JFK around 12:30 on Monday and caught the bus into the city although we didnt realise how big JFK was and that the bus was going to stop at every terminal on the way out lol anyway we got to our hostel and left our stuff of then headed to get sumthin to eat of course only traditional American food wud do so we strolled around the corner and there was a subway, yep that will do!! Went to bed ... read more

Hello all... It's the middle of the night and almost everyone I know in NY is sleeping. That dam WORK thing always getting in the way of staying up late. I was thinking about sleeping...but who has the time, 8 hours left so I figured what better time than now to write my first Blog entry. Hope all of you read this sitting at your desks, having a cup of coffee, reminding yourselves of why it is you go to sleep early everyday just to make sure your not late for that great view of the inside of your cubicle/office/desk. Maybe I will cheer up your morning. Just remeber you too can quit your JOB, and go to other side of the planet. Start saving now, and one day soon your boss will piss you off ... read more

So I’m pretty excited right now. Only 2 more days until I leave for Fiji on Dec 1 with 2 of my best friends. I’ve been voluntarily unemployed since Nov 1 and I highly recommend it. Sleep rules. I walk around with a permanent smile and I haven’t even left yet. That’s not to say I’m not nervous at all, but I decided that there’s something to be said about scaring the shit out of yourself. Everyone should try it at least once in their lives. It’s fun.... read more
