Woke up this morning on a quest for a great bagel, but ended up settling on a Starbucks across the street from the hotel, yes there are Starbucks on almost every corner here too. Fully cafinated we headed back to 30 Rock for a day version of the roof top observatory, since we had a 24 hour pass. Before heading up we grabbed stand-by tickets to Late Night with Seth Myers again! We had standby tickets #23 and #24 and were feeling lucky. Up to the observation deck for more picture of the city, and of tourists being tourists, like the gal who sat on the edge of the overlook for a selfie, and made the security guard yell at her. If she had fallen backwards she would only have dropped down to the next observation level a floor down. After 30 Rock we headed toward Grand Central Station but stopped when we came across the New York City Library. Of course we had to get pictures of Glenda the Librarian and the lions in front of the grand building. Next we were off to Grand Central Station for a look, and to have lunch at the famous Oyster Bar inside. We had some Manhattan Clam Chowder and a plate of oysters, mussels, and shrimp. Delish! Then back to 30 rock for the NBC studio tour. This was the same building that the Tonight Show was filmed in when Johnny Carson was host. My family got to see the show when we were in New York in 1968. The show was filmed in the studio just below the studio where Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show is being filmed now. On the tour we got to see the Saturday Night Live studio which looks sooo much smaller in person that on TV. Then we saw the Seth Myers studio and hoped to be back to see the show later that night. It was cool to be back in the same building I had been in, in 1968 to see Johnny Carson. We headed back to our hotel for a quick nap (30 minutes) then changed and back to 30 Rock to see if we could make it into Seth Myers Late Night. They seated the first 9 standby ticket holders right away and told us to come back in 30 minutes and they would see how many seats were still available - it

I wonder how many cell phones have been dropped through the slots in the glass?
didn't look good for #23 and #24. We grabbed some sushi at a sushi bar in the building then back to our waiting line. When the page came out she said their were 9 seats available - basically bar stools at the back of the theater - some people ahead of us did not come back so the page counted out those still in line and ended with us - one seat was available and I let Glenda take the last seat! I felt like I had give up my seat on the lifeboat as Glenda danced away wit the survivors.... we had joked about the one ticket left scenario - who would go. A few minutes later the page came back and said that the VIP seats were not available tonight and thanked everyone for coming. She told me to standby and said since they split us up she was able to get me a folding chair to sit next to Glenda in he back! We both made it! Seth Meyer came out before the show and talked to the audience and thanked us for coming. Fred Armisen (from their SNL days together) was the drummer for the Late Night bank. The first guest was Emma Stone, and they talked about her new movie where she plays Billy Jean King. The next guest was Kaitlin Olson (actress in The Mick) and finally Blondie was the musical talent. Blondie and her band were great. They had to replay the song a second time to get the best sound, so we got to hear her twice. While Blondie and the band were setting up and doing a sound check (about 20 minutes) Seth Myers came up into the audience a took questions. I asked him if he had an interview that went sideways or off the tracks and he said his second show he interviewed Kanye West and it did not go well. It was fun to see the audience interaction. After the show we headed back to the gift shop where we got some pics with the poster of Seth, then back to the Hotel where Glenda is now icing her knee.... such a day! Lesson Learned for the day - Don't be the first to step into the street when the crossing light flashes, don't even be the second or third. Wait to be at least the fourth one - Taxi's speed through the light and will run over at least 3 people to make it- their limit seems to be 4!
