This morning we separated from S and J and the boys as they had sports shopping to do, so we arranged to meet later in the morning prior to our pre-booked Circle Line Cruise.

We started with a walk through the amazing Grand Central Terminal, stopping to listen to the Whispering Wall. We then headed up through Times Square – thank goodness we didn't stay here! Sort of like Piccadilly Circus on steroids – and continued walking up W47th Street to the Intrepid Air and Space Museum.

This was a very interesting museum, great to see the Concord along with many other planes and boats. We all enjoyed it.

We met up with the rest of the family at a café near Circle Line Pier. Can't remember its name, and it wasn't very good anyway. Still it was only a quick lunch. Afterwards we headed to the pier and boarded our Circle Line Landmark Tour. We had prepurchased tickets in the Premier Class, which meant we had a private sitting area on the top of the boat. Totally freezing in the wind, but the views were stupendous, so worth the chill and the extra money. It meant we were

served snacks and drinks at our seats. Looking at the massive lines to purchase anything downstairs, this was worth the extra cost in itself. The Premier Class also had a private indoor seating area as well, where our still sick daughter spent the afternoon watching the views out of the windows.

Highly recommend this tour. It had live commentary and as previously stated, excellent views.

Once we got off the boat, the girls popped to the toilets and came out to find that the boys had managed to find a 12-seater limo for our ride back to the hotel! An extravagance but that is what holidays are all about sometimes.

Dinner was once again Italian – reasonably priced and well suited to large family groups – at Montebello, where I ate a delicious parmesan crusted chicken in a white wine and lemon sauce.
