Tonight we braved the cold wet weather and went out to the Comic strip comedy club which is supposedly another 'must do' for NY city.
We had a barbecue rib dinner at the Big Daddy diner on the way which was ok. It was a typical diner and had large meals for a reasonable price.
Carrying on to the comedy club which was a rather dingy little place which looked as though it had been there for a hundred years we entered through a heavy wooden door which led into a small bar.
There was a couple of characters at the bar talking to the young woman who was managing the club. One of them was a wannabe comedian who was wanting to audition for the club but told the woman that he was on probation and couldn't work for 6 months. Obviously a highly intelligent individual!!
Anyway we were eventually shown inside to our most unfortunate seats right at the front next to the small stage. There was a large group of people there who were celebrating their mothers 50th birthday (she was there with some of her 11 children) and they took the brunt of the jokes from some of the comedians so we were spared.
A couple of the guys were not so good as they typically relied on using the F word profusely and just basically annoying the small audience but there were a few that were genuinely funny, a couple I had seen on comedy galas televised from Melbourne. All in all it was a pretty good night and we ticked another item off our must do list.

Sounds like fun. An authentic NY experience.
