Chicken Barbecue at Hess
Hess Tire Appreciation Day...1500 Lbs of chicken cooked.
Now that we know you like chicken barbecues, we've made sure we have found the best ones to take you to.
Our first day of fun was at the annual Hess Tire Customer Appreciation Day. We are still in awe at the free party they put on for all their customers. It is huge and so generous. We bought our RV tires from them and have done other business there. They are an outstanding company to use and they offer excellent customer satisfaction. They are located way up on a super, high hill outside of Andover, NY. It's quite a challenge for Cory to get our RV over the many twisting, turning, hill-challenging back roads but he manages. He just had the RV there for its NY inspection.....some states don't even have vehicle inspection....ex: Ohio.....so Sam & Sandy have never gone through this exercise. Luckee's! They don't know what they are missing.
From the turnout at this festive gathering, it's apparent that they must have thousands of satisfied customers .....but they do also let you bring your family with you. Besides the chicken barbecue dinner, there were scrumptious hot dogs (John Martin Brand), potato chips, monster size doughnuts, free

drinks and homemade ice cream made right there on site during the festivities. No one could possibility leave hungry. Some even went back for seconds. Oh, my! They had vendors set up who gave out free advertising trinkets....nice items. There were wagon rides and a bounce house for the kids. I wish you all could have really been there with us. We saw many of our local friends and I even chatted awhile with Santa Claus. What a fine day! Before we left, we went to the small restaurant/store on the grounds. Nate, the carpenter who does work on our house, and his family operate it. It has many items from the Pennsylvania co-op's . I love it. Bought some of the yummy hot dogs and Maple Leaf cookies this time. They had a hummingbird feeder attached to one of the windows. Many of us gathered up close to the window while this fearless hummingbird drank from the feeder. It was like a pet. I named him "Hummer". This day was a good and fun one. HOT, too....we like hot. Lulu didn't mind not going. Her hair gets to be such a mess in this type of weather. Being so
vain, she would rather stay home and stay cool and pretty. Oh, brother! Glad you aren't so fussy.
And the fun continued....in Honeoye Falls (Rochester), N.Y. Our daughter, Kim, & Jim, invited all the family to their house for a Father's Day celebration. It was another HOT day in the sun. They have a local festival in their park so the men went and brought back chicken barbecues for all of us to devour and enjoy. Yum....they were good. Kim had bought additional potato salad, soft rolls, chips, fruit platter and two cakes to round the banquet out. Wonderful but so much of these delicious goodies can make you fat. Fat - splat...not going to pass. It was soooo good. Cory and I had stopped at the Avon flea market before arriving at Kim's. We had been here a few weeks before when we went to Rochester for Tim's birthday. It was still good but we only found a couple small items to buy. I have to remember to put some sneakers in our car. For the second time, I have stumbled along in pain (moaning and cringing with each step) because I am wearing my open sandals. The

ground is all gravel. The gravel loads up in my sandals so much I could call them gravel pit carriers. Stopping and clearing my gravel bucket sandals, it takes us twice as long making our way through this market. OWW! Lulu wouldn't have this problem...no feet!
Enough..back to the Faber's. We should have listened to Kim when she said to bring our bathing suits. Tim & Conner did and had a grand time in their pool. The rest of us dipped our feet in.....ooooo, so refreshing. The rest of our bodies sweltered. Lulu would not have this problem...no body...just sweat on her head. Their lab dog (a born swimmer), Cinder, dreams only of swimming in the pool but Kim has a rule....no dogs allowed! Rats. She's strict. One time, Kim went in the house and sweet Cinder made a quick cool-off on the steps of the pool. Yay, Cinder. Of course, now all wet.....Kim figured out the situation. Rats. Anyhow......we were happy to spend this fun day with our family: Lory, Jay & Sara. Tim & Conner. And Kim, Jim, Travis and Haley.....and Cinder. I know all of you were rooting for Cinder, too. Again, Lulu refrained from this

visit. She just does not cope well with this hot weather. What a baby! Plus, there is something wonderful in store that Lulu wants to share with you. A prime reason why she is more content staying at home. Start holding your breath.
That's going to do it this time around. Enough fun for awhile. Next on our dance card is a dentist visit and my annual mammogram. OW and double OW. Feel sorry for me? Good. I love sympathy. And I love that you tag along on the fun visits and the no-so-fun visits....taking the good with the bad. True friends....through thick and through thin. We do it together. Thank you for your presence.
