Bet you are in awe that we are back so quickly. It's all in the timing. Memorial Day weekend gave us two events to celebrate. Of course, we hung our flags at our house to honor all the military men who have served our country to keep us safe and free. Cory went to our neighboring town, Whitesville, to buy us our usual Memorial Day chicken bar-b-que's. Remember Crazy Jack's is located in Whitesville as was the Cow Palace. Just checking to see if you are keeping up with all these blogs. We would miss you if you didn't. Cory and I feverishly devoured our bar-b-ques at our small table on our front porch. The weather was warm and wonderful today.....perfect for outdoor dining. Wish we had been able to buy all of you the chicken....it was delicious. Some folks (like Sam & Sandy)like bar-b-que chicken whereas, we like chicken bar-b-que. Location, location, location. Lulu did not hold back....she was right there on the table waiting for her serving. Tricky getting it in her mouth....it won't open. She still enjoys the experience. Obviously, this is why she is so thin.....like "no body" thin. Lucky!
Friday, we went to the Salamanca
Mall and restocked our booth for the holiday weekend. The antique Co-Op offers more sales during this weekend on top of our regular 25% off.....but they pay the difference. It doesn't come off our price. We did very well this month of May with our sales......Yeah!
Saturday was our biggest celebration day. It was our son's, Tim, 39th birthday. We cannot believe where the time has gone. I remember working the evening shift at the hospital back on May 28, 1977. Left around midnight thinking something was going on.....sure enough, we went back to the hospital around 6:00 AM and I had Tim @ 7:30 AM.....May 29th. He's the youngest and was the biggest surprise of all our 4 children. He and his son, Conner, live in N.Chili, Rochester, NY. He works in Asset Management (Insurance Claims Department) of Wegman's. We are very proud of him.
We started this celebratory day by picking up our daughter, Lory, and granddaughter, Sara. It was 8:00 AM...yawn. Rochester is about 1 1/2 hours away. First, we headed to Avon, NY where they have a descent size Flea Market. It was very good this day...lots of dealers, lots of stuff and lots
of people. It got pretty warm as we wandered up and down the aisles. Sweaty! Hope we didn't wear you out....my legs were throbbing by the time we finished. Ouch! We found a few treasures......plus more but since we aren't doing shows anymore, we had to leave them where they stood. Sniff.
Then we went to the Marketplace Mall in Rochester. Lory & Sara had a mission.....I plunked down on a bench and did my Ipad. Cory walked the mall for exercise. I better get moving with him....my Fitbit review is pathetic. Almost like I have polio and can't walk!
Finally, we reached our destination and purpose. We were at Olive Garden to honor Tim on his birthday. His sister, Kim, and Jim joined us which was very nice. An extra special treat was that this was our first opportunity for us to meet Tim's new girlfriend, Courtney. What a lovely person she is. Beautiful, intelligent, and so gracious. We all liked her immediately. Conner was happy and enjoyed being with everyone again. We had not seen him since Florida. The staff brought Tim a celebration piece of cake so we could all sing Happy Birthday to him...I
Avon Flea Market
Lory & Sara on left love that part!
Once filled to the brim, we headed onward to our next stop: Costco's. Kim & Jim had to go home. The rest of us wandered through this mega store. They offered many food samples throughout the store but I was so full I didn't even try them. Unreal! I still can't believe I did that but I did. We'll have to plan better next time. I hope you got all the treats you wanted. Hate to see freebies go to waste. Tim, Conner & Courtney left us here and we traveled on.
Next on our dance card was the Christmas Tree Shop. I love this store. I didn't see anything Christmasy .....just thousands of wonderful items with cheap prices. My cart was a life saver. It wasn't overflowing but once Lory added her goodies, it almost was.
We aren't done yet.....went to Sam's Club. Cory & Lory went in while Sara and I rested in the car......aaaahhhhh.
Time to travel down the pike towards home. But wait, one last stop: Wal Mart in Geneseo, NY. Again, just Cory and Lory went in. My legs were screaming at me. Sara kept me company. It
was a long, full day and a wonderful one. Almost as wonderful a day like we had 39 years ago. Happy Birthday, Tim. We love you!
Have to share one of our recent transactions. At a recent yard sale that we stopped at in Olean, NY., we made a purchase of a Brake Buddy Braking System for an RV and its tow vehicle. It wasn't complete....just the main unit and foot pedal attachment and instructions....no wiring, etc. They wanted $25 for it but we offered $15 and they took it. We put it on EBay and just sold it for $280. Now....that's how you want to do it! A good profit! Yippee.
We have another swell item that we are going to take to our Co-Op. We bought a carved, large and heavy, wooden pair (attached) of riding boots. We think it might be an umbrella holder but it could be used for other things.....flowers? Lulu loves them and wants us to keep them for her. It gives her new legs and feet. They do kind of fit...she tried them on and they look nice. But we are going to sell them and hope for another tidy profit.
Tim's Birthday
Happy Birthday, Tim Lulu is sad.
Returned our outdoor camera to our back field critter feeding station. Our regulars were back - crows, raccoons, bunny, skunk, feral cats, possum. Well, today when we checked it.....surprise! A new visitor! Here was a fairly small black bear. Must be a cub to the mega black bear that tore down our birdfeeders. Has to be. We don't mind if they stay up back...just don't like them around our house. I do hope I get another picture of the Mama bear so I can show you the monster size that it is. Whew! Don't want to come face to face with it! Don't be sweating and shaking.....we'll make sure it doesn't come to your neighborhood.
That's All Folks! Not sure where or when we will go on our next adventure. But I do know, you'll surely be notified so you can join us. Keep an eye out for my alert! Catch you, again. Enjoy summertime.
