Our Family - Happiness & Joy
Shenen, Jay, Ryan, Travis, Jim, Haley, Cory, Rachael, Cory, Amber, Tim, Sara, Kim, me, Lory
Still trying to catch up. You all need to get right back in your time machines. We aren’t up to date on our timelines yet. But we’ll get there eventually, I think.
Even though our travel blog site continues to be a real mess and heartbreaker, we still have so much more to be thankful. Our family comes first, followed by all of you. We are so thankful for everything we can do together and make such wonderful memories. Obviously, our main reason for leaving the warmth of our sunny “R&R” to return to the snowy, white blanket covering our home was to be with our family. That’s what it’s all about for us. Cory and I are blessed with 4 children, nine grandchildren plus spouses and significant others. A grand group! Oh, and of course, there is always Lulu!
We made it home on Tuesday, Nov. 20th (1 1/2 days before Thanksgiving). Did you enjoy the trip back? I know we were a little squished together since we were in the car rather than the RV but Lulu found it nice & cozy. If she had arms/hands, she would be a touchy-feely person.... in a nice way. We
were thankful for an uneventful trip back to Shongo from Florida. We had plenty of time to set up the banquet tables for the festive meal ahead. Your place setting was next to Lulu’s. The more the merrier. We always put our tables together to keep us that way: together! Our son-in-law, Jim, had come down to see his very good friend who had moved away to Florida and was now back in the area. Jim stayed over in our upstairs motel. We like it when we aren’t the only ones rambling around in our house......so come on over and bring your pj’s. We’ll make it a fun sleep over. Lulu said she would give you your space even though she really wants to share her bed with you.....in a good way. That sounds like something Michael Jackson said at one time.??!
This year, our family decided it would be easier on me if they bought part of the Thanksgiving Dinner already prepared. We are thankful for their thoughtfulness. They ordered 2 precooked turkeys, lots of mashed potatoes, stuffing and gravy from Wegman’s (one of the top rated companies to work for...fyi: our son, Tim works for them). Most
of our families began to arrive late Thursday morning with their delicious cuisine contributions. Some had conflicts which is understandable. Kim had picked up the Wegman’s food. Now, the challenge: warm it all up! I only have one oven and one microwave. I’m not Rachael Ray! Kim, Tim and Lory juggled and switched the luke warm delicacies here and there, back and forth until the job was done. I was the temperature checker with my sterilized finger. Lulu offered but you know why that wouldn’t work....no fingers. And then we gathered together. Sara read our prayer of Thanksgiving. Cory and I looked around our table with such heartfelt happiness and pride of each one seated here at our table. Happy Thanksgiving! And it was truly that!
There was even more to be thankful. We also were able to celebrate another special occasion on this festive holiday. Our granddaughter, Rachael (Cory’s daughter) had her 23rd birthday on November 21st. She is attending the University of Alabama for her doctorate. She plans to use her education for cancer research. Happy Birthday and Congratulations, Rachael!
When we first came home, we were greeted by a light covering of snow and tons
of mud! We could almost turn our driveway into an underground roadway....a wicked, sloppy one. Pigs would love to wallow in it. The whole world could come and get a mud facial.....plenty to go around. We pictured the many vehicles that would be at our house on Thanksgiving. Buried in mud! Thankfully, the temperature dipped (yes, I did say fortunately) and the mud got firmer. More snow arrived so Chilly Willy Cory got his exercise using his trusty snowblower. He rearranged stuff in our pole barn and made room for 4 vehicles. Everything came together very well. We were thankful.
We know our Florida friends are coveting their beautiful blue skies and sweltering hot weather. Lucky them. We aren’t jealous (cause we know we will be going back and joining them) but we think it’s also important to remind them that there is another part of the world experiencing grey skies, freezing temperatures and snow! That’s us at this time. Fortunately, we are used to this lifestyle ....we’ve been at this same rodeo before. There are some folks who truly love this weather. Not so much us anymore. So, sweaty Florida Friends...we offer the wintery photos just for you!

Well, Jay was attentive to his job
Eat your hearts out!
I hate dwelling on this but we have to talk. Our Travel Blog Site is still not functioning correctly. I have devoted millions of hours trying everything possible to reach a solution. Result: NOTHING that works! Presently, I am still using the broken TB site as my template to write my blogs, and “publishing” them from their site so I can get the URL address link. The process goes okay through the steps but ultimately, my blogs do not get “published” by them to all of you. You get no notification that we have a new blog for you to see......and hopefully welcome, enjoy and maybe even memorize 😁😁😁. That’s where the site has broken down. Oh, woe is me. Lulu is catatonic when she realizes this......the motionless part is easy for her. At this point, I use that URL link (copy/paste) and add it to my own email and send it out to you personally. We only hope it is reaching all of you. Unless you tell me, I don’t know who gets it and who doesn’t. I can only see how many views the blog has had. With the last few blogs, it
looks like many have seen them. But, I also know there are other people (public) who see our blog besides my listed followers. The number of views do not reflect just all of you. One public followers was helpful in understanding the Travel Blog Site problem (basically the same answer as my Verizon friend told me). He wrote on my blog comment section: “Answer to TB problem - Home and Away
- Dear frustrated Travelblogger (that’s me...Sandy) - I am a Moderator(Sandy says: name given to support staff on Travel Blog Site) and we also are concerned about our Administrator's seeming lack of attention. Another Moderator has spoken to the Administrator (Sandy says: owner of TB site), who seems to be spending his time fixing the security certificate (Sandy says: necessary to fix problem). As for your immediate problem of our subscribers not getting emails of your posts, I would suggest that they become New Bloggers (it doesn't cost anything, and they don't have to post anything), and then become Followers of your blog. Then they can log onto the site and see what you've written. I hope that our Administrator fixes these issues soon, too. I love your sense of humor!” The end.
I thank you, Bob, for your comments! Bob’s suggestion of all of you becoming New Bloggers would be good but it gets confusing and complicated. I tried that when I first started blogging on this site. Finally, just went “public” to make it easy on everyone (you). And dear followers, that is where we are at this point. If you are receiving our blogs, you can also see the other blogs that we have written recently. There is an arrow on the left side of the blog that reads “previous”. Click on that and can you go back to as many blogs as your heart desires to review....there are only 471 of them. Happy perusing.....🎼🎼🎼tip toe through the tulips🎼🎼🎼!
Thank you, Everyone! You are the best! PS...25 photos so keep scrolling way down!
