left at 5 am and drove to Buck Pond, Onochiota, PA in the Adirondack Park. Our drive was smooth. Rick was surprised that there were towns in the Adirondack Park – like Old Forge and Inlet – that had cute little downtowns with shops and restaurants. He thought it would be like a National Park. It is kind of unique – a park, but there is development. I was surprised by the number of bodies of water we passed. There were lot of vacation spots and a lot of cars had canoes or kayaks. Buck Pond is about 30 minutes to the closest “town” of Saranack Lake and about 45 minutes to Lake Placid. When we arrived we walked to the beach of Buck Pond and the kids swam. The lake was beautiful, surrounded by mountains and pine trees.
