Pat from So Inclined & JR from Ontario Star
These were 2 of the 4 dock-mates that we had over the 2 seasons-Pat from SoInclined & JR from Ontario Star - always lending a helping hand! This is our last weekend as residents at Navy Point and members of the Navy Point Association. As much as we loved the location and the access to the village of Sackets Harbor, the best part was the people that we got to know in the marina. Right from the first weekend when we arrived 2 years ago, we were met by our slip mates, RJ and Mary on Ontario Star and Pat & Jim (the incredible spider killers) from So Inclined. They were there to lend a helping hand to bringing us into the dock with our lines and have been friends ever since. Bob is still convinced that Jim looks like Harry Potter with his magically stick uttering incantations against all spiders! The ever smiling and friendly Andrew and Jesse from Romance, Bob & Juli from Julianne, Robbie & Bill from Agrosy Too, Dianne & Tim from Clarks Cruiser, and Barb & Paul from Indulgence- were always there to help, give advice, just for a friendly chat or for our regular trek to the ice cream stand from G dock - all of these and more helped to make our stay at Navy Point a pleasant one. These were
a "new" and "old" friend
Here are 2 of our friends from Navy Point - our "new"friend Peggy from Pipe Dreams and our "old" friend Don from Elixir the ones that we got to see the most as they were on G dock, however, the great thing is that with the Navy Point Association we got to meet many others at the various functions.
We reunited with long time friends from Ithaca, Don & Mary of Elixir as well as met others such as Nancy & Tom of Redburn (thanks again for the car shuttle), Jerry on Rascal and Peggy and Kevin who were new to sailing on Pipe Dream but are definitely a great addition to the sailing community. Thanks also go to all of those that are volunteers and pull together all of the Navy Point Association get- togethers with a great big thanks to Harry and Jenna of Grump. We apologize if we left others out, but just want to get the message across that the location of Navy Point was our first draw, but the people is what we will remember.
One thing about Sackets Harbor is that it is nicely located in that you can travel to Canada quite easily as well as the village itself has lots going on during the summer. One of the big events is the Can-Am
Annual Steak Roast & Clambake
This year's annual event drew a great crowd- nice to get a chance to visit with friends at Navy Point (Canadian-American) Festival with the blessing of the boats, a great parade with lots of marching bands from all over and the historical society actors walking the streets in costume - lots of fun for all!
