The helicopter was flying today so we went and had a 10 minute flight over the falls. It was only a little chopper so it was just us in the back and the pilot up front. The flight was short but he flew right over both sides of the falls giving us a lovely view of both of them.
From the air and again back on the ground we could see that the line for the Maid of the Mist was extremely long and they were even lining up to go on the observation deck. Since I also have my usual raging dose of the flue (gotta love a cold climate) and there was a freezing cold wind today we decided to give that a miss.
Instead we took a half hour drive to Buffalo and happened upon the Navy park and museum which had a few aircraft and two large navy ships to look over. There weren't many people there so we were able to go over the destroyer 'The Sullivans' which was named after 5 brothers who were missing in action in the Solomon islands (very sad!) and a larger Guided missile light cruiser, 'The USS Little Rock. They were both quite interesting since we had only been on Aircraft carriers before. It was a bit of a chore getting up and down the dozens of ladders though.

Great views from the chopper. Hope your flu doesn't last too long.
