We headed back to the city today. With a short stop for breakfast at the Bagel shop. Even in the Hamptons the New York Bagels are great! After getting back we took the train into Manhattan to Times Square where we went to look for show tickets; more on that later. While Bob and I were waiting in line, everyone else went to the Hershey's store and the M&M's store. Way to expensive to buy anything. I was insisting on having some great New York Pizza for lunch, unfortunately we picked a real dud. It was way over priced and wasn't warmed up enough. After that we walked down to china town and burned a few hours milling around. We stopped again for some dim sum and beers and before we knew it, it was time ... read more

Traveled from Chicago to JFK. Our flight went well. Navigated from Terminal 4 to Terminal 7 at JFK and now we are just people watching and relaxing. Our next flight will be to Buenos Aires, Argentina. We are looking forward to the warmer weather and our next adventure! ... read more

Bonjour, All was off to to great start. The plane was not full, I had a row to myself and we departed on time. LIfe is good. About an hour into the flight when I was stretched out on my own narrow bed the captain announced that. THE COMPUTERS HAD FAILED AND WE WERE HEADING BACK TO JFK. There went my dream of a good nights sleep. Since we were still heavy with fuel, the entire emergency brigade met us on the ground. I had visions of jumping on a slide and crashing to the ground. Thankfully, none of that happened. We taxied to a gate and waited, deplaned and waited for new equipment to arrive. To keep us happy American provided chips, popcorn, cookies, water, soda and tangerines. The tangerine was good. Eventually they announced ... read more

Thursday, our second day at the US Open. Check off this bucket list item. We made our first ever trip to the Open last evening. It was fun. So was our second day. Although we did have a three hour rain delay! After our UBER problems on Wednesday, we decided to once again ride the Long Island RR. It was only $10 each way so why not. Once we got in the line I convinced Jackie that the security line "with bags" seemed to be moving while the other was not. So, we switched. Bad idea. Listen to your wife and stay in the line she picks. Inside, we were free to attend any match, except those in the Ashe Stadium. So, we chose the Nishikori vs Khachanov match in the Grandstand. We remembered that Nishi ... read more

Je vais trouver ... read more

When my parents dropped me off at the airport to leave for Ecuador we all choked back tears and then failed as we separated at the security gate: me on an adventure of independence and them to go back to life as usual, but without their baby. This trip has had such a gradual departure it's lost the surreal air a big adventure can have. Somewhere between the bus ride from Philly and arriving at JFK 6 hours early for our triple delayed flight, the excitement became something more natural. What hasn't changed though is that this is still a journey towards claiming independence and embracing my freedom. With only a backpack and a friend in tow, I'm sooo ready for this this. It may be an escape, a break, a taste... I'm not trying to ... read more

Over two years ago me and my husband Scotty moved from San Francisco, CA to his native New York. In these last two years he keeps telling me: Soon, we will move back to California. It's not that I don't like New York, the seasons are so romantic and I've made some wonderful friends. But to be honest, I do miss my native California. About two months ago we decided to move in October! We got the blessing from his mom to drive the family's Kia Sedona from Queens to Los Angeles. We could do a straight shot- but wouldn't it be more fun to stop in different places along the way? I think our trip will take about a month. We love yoga so the plan is to visit one or two yoga studios in ... read more

We debated for a while whether or not to stay in Hilo or Kona for our Hawai'i Island portion of the trip. Kona is apparently the resort area; the place people think of when they think of vacationing in Hawaii. Hilo appears notorious for rain and clouds, but it is close to the parks we are so interested in and the hotels are so much cheaper. I think economical decisions are wise at this point; I'm leaving my job early to prepare for my move (which means a month of rent without income), the move itself will be a bit of an expense, and we would like to start saving to purchase a house. And so we decided on Hilo; we will tough out whatever weather comes along, and the second portion of our trip on ... read more

I am currently writing this from home, which I guess is a bit strange for a travel site, but I never knew this place existed until today. I do intend to use this journal to record my future trips--and maybe write out some memories from past adventures--but I think the majority of my first few posts will revolve around my move to Canada, which is in 3 months. I married a Canadian, and we decided it would be best for me to emigrate North. I'm very excited! But first, to familiarize myself with this website.. ... read more

April 22, 2014 JFK Airport New York, NY Well I'm sitting at Tigin in JFK so I guess you can say that my journey has begun! I am enjoying a beer and watching the Yankee's play the Red Sox at Fenway. There is not much that is more American than baseball and beer and since this will be my last time in America for the next week I might as well enjoy it. I will be traveling to the motherland, Italy. This journey was a year in the making and a welcomed retreat indeed. In just a few hours I will be in Milan where I am meeting a Mr. Raymond Soha. I know little about my new travel companion but that only adds to the excitement of my adventure. He was the friend of Fr. ... read more
