Early morning Manhattan skyline.
Monday October 30th 2006

The weather is now back on the calmer side and, as per our plans, we set sail early this morning at 6am. We arrived at 10am this morning and are presently on a mooring at the 79th Boat Basin Marina. This is a really great place as we are located at uptown Manhattan, on the west end of 79th street. Only a short walk to Times Square and only a few blocks from a subway station.
There are only a few boats left here waiting to set sail south. Gilles and his crew of s/v Bon Ange, being one of them, is setting sail later today. Their plans are to head as far south as they can on the east coast, to somewhere like Beaufort Virginia or, hopefully for them, even farther south.
After talking too the few boat that stayed here for the storm. We are really happy we stayed in Haverstraw. We are told that the wind and waves here where really bad, and that only a few boats could move into the harbor from the mooring field based on available space and even they where beaten badly by the weather.
We are planning

Arriving just north of the George Washington Bridge.
to stay here until the arrival of our crew (Caroline, Marcel & Miro) which are due to be here next Monday the 6th of November. So we will be taking some time ashore as to pick supplies and to visit some of the sites here in Manhattan.

We will keep you posted with updates and some new pictures later this week.

Cheers
