Home Awaits

We awake to rain, have some breakfast and start our packing, we are sure our luggage is overweight, we look around the room, this is it, time for the long haul home. We have arranged a car to pick us up and take as to the airport, we don't want to go home yet, there is still so much more to see! On the way to J.F.K the taxi we’re riding in gets shunted in the rear, the driver hops out, checks the damage, shakes his head at the other driver and off we continue…this seems the norm ??? .We arrive at the airport and wait for our flight to LA then from LA to Sydney then on to Melbourne, and it’s a loooooong flight home

We would like to thank the American's for making us most welcome in their country, their hospitality was overwhelming, we meet some wonderful and interesting people, whose stories and information helped to make this a wonderful holiday.

I would especially like to thank Steve, who spent his nights at the computer organising the itinerary and downloading maps. I hope you have all enjoyed the journey with us, and we have brought a little bit of the USA into your lives. We hope that one day that those who have not travelled to this country can, and enjoy it as much as we have.

We are not sure where our next trip will take us, maybe Canada next, but wherever we go, we hope you will again follow our blog and enjoy it with us!

<p class="MsoNormal">I would like to thank the forum posters(road trip gurus) on the Roadtrip America forum for the advise and suggestions.Considering how much we wanted to fit into the disired time frame,it worked out great.

Most of the groundwork for the trip was researched using Tripadvisor,Frommers and Google earth, a Garmin G.P.S(1940 T) was purchased in Australia and was preloaded with West and East coast U.S.A custom maps useing Mapsource. The G.P.S was great piece of kit,If I was to plan another simalar trip,I would also have extra sub(side) routes ready to go in Mapsource to upload to G.P.S via a laptop.

We took 2 Digital SLR Cameras (Pentax K20 and K5) and a point and shoot olympus790 SW.As usual I took to many lenses,I really only used my 12-24 wide angle and out of neccesity I purchaseed a 28-300 whilst in San Fransisco.
