Woke up quite late as we only got ot our room around 2.00am, very late. Got dressed for a day of adventure around New York. Went for a walk along Broadway,so many shops & people, well its manic. Brought a ticket on the City Sights Tour Bus, caught it & sat upstairs. The weather here today is around 24 degrees & muggy. The bus tour was terrific went around Times Square, through Greenwich Village, Little Italy, China Town & Soho, then back to Times Square. The whole Broadway street was closed to market stalls, which were kind of cool. Had a cornfritter with melted cheese & helped Will with his delicious chocolate crepe, now this was very yummy. Went shopping for the usual gifts, the I luv New York shirts. Brought all the girls one each, they are going to love these things. Walked to a Mets shop full of baseball soveniours, well Jase & I had to buy a shirt & a cap to wear to the New York Mets Baseball game for tonight's game at Citibank Field. Got back to the Crowne Plaza where we were staying & had a rest, then Becc & I went for a long
walk to Central Park. This park is beauitful & the air is crisp & fresh compared to along the streets of Broadway. Sat & watched a local baseball game, they were called the Westies, enjoyed cheering them on & talking with the players. Got up to the entrance of Central Park & found a little squirrel on the grass which a local New Yorker was feeding it nuts. She was getting the squirrel to eat out of her hands, very entertaining to watch. She handed me some food & I bent down to feed the squirrel but did not get close enough. Walked back along the Broadway & got talking to another Australian. She was a Gawler girl who used to play netball for South Gawler....very bizarre to be talking to a local in New York City.
Arrived late in the afternoon to the hotel, had to get ready to go to the baseball game with Jase. Took the subway on the 7th Ave to the Mets stadium, just a little bit excited about watching a baseball game in Manhattan......
Got to the stadium, well it was only natural to buy beers & eat hot dogs, so that became our
dinner. The game was a spectical in every sense of the word with music, crowd atmosphere, shirts & prizes being handed out. There was so much to take in while sitting with Jase drinking beers. Could not purchase a beer myself, as I did not have ID on me, how bizarre.............Jase had to buy beers for me. On the 8th innings the Mets were down to the D-Backs 5 to 6 runs, so Pagan number 9 stepped up to the plate. All bases were loaded, well he hit the ball out of the park, great awesome, which meant it was a "Grand Slam".....4 home runs. Jase & I were off our seats & doing the high fives to all our Mets neighbours sitting next to us. This meant the score ended up being the Mets 9 to the D-Backs 6, we were on the winning side, what an awesome life time experience to go an see an American Sport Live.....very surreal.
Left the stadium around 10.30pm, caught the subway back to the Crowne Plaza. Jase & I then proceeded to find a bar for a few more beers, found Planet Hollywood, sat & relived the game, another one of my
wow factor events that will be unforgettable. Got to bed late but well worth it.......
New York is amazing, would so love to spend more time here.....xx
