Here is the first entry of our little US tour...in 10 days, we will be in New York, San Francisco, San Diego and Las Vegas...I know, another crazy trip.
The fun part about it, is that Leslie has gone to all these places by the time he was only 18 months old.
Leslie took quite well the 13 hours flight from Shanghai to Chicago. It was a full flight but I'm really impressed how he faced the stuggle, specially when the 13 hours turned into 14 hours as we were on hold due to rain...followed by a one hour queue at customs...and yes I fought we would never make our connection.
So once we reach the domestic terminal, I found out that our connecting flight to Newark had been cancelled. And this is were you say...thanks god, this is ORD and they have the little jewel of first class international lounge hidden in a corner of the terminal...and for those who don't know me...we fly in the back of the plane. And the jewel is not only the buffet, but great staff to sort out things when you really need them.
Once there, Leslie could
finally get settled...arrange is toys, grab some food and drinks...and bubbles for me. All this to found out that the first flight we were re-booked on was only 24 hours later...thanks AA.
So Leslie become very fast very familiar with the words cancelled, stanby and waitlist.
The last available flight of the day was at 1005pm...42 people on waiting list...and yes we made it...thanks to the priority status....all this make you wondering...it was weather related, so AA would take no responsibility for hotels...there is not much of a transfer desk at the aiport...so it's everybody on his own...and conversations in the lounge were fun.
So as you can guess the flight didn't leave on time...and we end up in bed at 3am. Three AM with a 6 years old kids...you must be kidding...well it was 3pm for him, so nothing easier.
And 7am...he was the first to wake up and New York here we are.
We are staying a the W...right in front of the Waldorf-Astoria were we stay last time with my ex...souvenir...souvenir...
This place is slightly more trendy....which means a nice suite...but trendy as in shower and no bath...no fun...
Yesterday was
a beautiful day. We went in the morning to Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. A first for me after nearly 20 visits to New York, so we can say we both really enjoyed. Lunch...guess what..Mc Donald...difficult to stop a 6 years old...next to Wall Street...followed by my prefer street in the world, Madison Avenue.
My first visit as a single for years on Madison Avenue...I never feel so much the impression on saving hundred or even thousands at every shop we were passing by...so we did indulge on Leslie and I...don't think that will last though...I love ladies and specially welldressed ones...and for this...I should definitively relocate here.
At 5pm...Leslie crashed....yes...he did last till 5pm...congratulations Leslie, you are the MAN! Or maybe was it is ability to last with the hotdog we had earlier? So back to the room for play time. And for your info, this little snob find the suite small...Asia, love my home so much for this too.
We went for diner few blocks away to Grand Central...what...we eat in the railway station! Oh yes, and what a meal as we went to my usual favorite at the Oyster Bar....with chowder Clam soup
for Leslie...and the usual mix of oysters and seafood for me...what a delight! At 9pm...Leslie finally surrendered to bed...and it was time for me to enjoy a little glass of Central Coast Pinot Noir...followed by a wonderful night.
So today, when we woke up...the rain was here. It last till 10am when we decided to go out and try our luck...bought an umbrella that was used less than 2 minutes...as it has been since lunch time a gorgeous sunny afternoon.
We started by Times Square...and yes Leslie enjoyed it...followed by the classic Empire State Building and a nice lunch.
This afternoon...Soho here we are...gorgeous weather...nice shopping...and nice little pinot grigio on a terrace to let Leslie relax his feet...and have a soft drink.
It is now 6pm....Leslie is having a nap...I don't know if it's the number of miles he walked....or the jetlag...but he finally get back to be a normal 6 years old boy...and crashed...well done Leslie over the last 2 days.
We are going to have diner at Asia de Cuba tonight...sure it will please Leslie...after all, it did please everybody I brought there.
Tomorrow morning will be an early wake up
at 6am to be around lunch time in San Francisco.
