Day 8 - 1000 Islands to Lake Placid

We drove about 3-1/2 hours to Lake Placid/Whiteface Mountain. We hung out around the campground and took a 3.5 mile hike. There is a whitewater stream behind the campground with rock cliffs lining the sides. There were many local kids diving off of the rocks into the pools of water. It is awesome.

We walked to a restaurant right outside the campground, along the banks of the river. Great food and Lake Placid IPA.

Tomorrow we will head into the Lake Placid Olympic Village, but from what we have seen so far, I can't image the world descending on this little town.
