Another chance to get ourselves ready for the trip out to Lake Powell. This time we headed for Cochiti which is about 30 minutes south of Santa Fe. This is a great time to be out on the water at either Cochiti or Abiquiu because there are very few other people out on the water.

We got on the water and cruised along the shoreline checking out the rock formations as we glided past. This time of year we also see bluebirds here quite often as well as a raptor or two hunting along the shore. The robins were out in full force flitting along the way.

We had a special treat on this particular paddle. Robert all of a sudden says, "listen". It was the sandhill cranes heading down the river toward the Bosque de Apache we figured. Once we heard one group, then we kept seeing more and more groups heading down the river. Wow!

One the way back to shore, the wind picked up and we used the sail on the way back. What fun!
