Geo: 44.0536, -71.1289After we packed up we headed down the cost and stopped at Goose Rocks Beach which was rocky and interesting as the mist was rolling back in again. We kept heading South and saw some beautiful houses and beach at Marshall Point.Headed onto Kennebunkport which again was another cute little harbour with little shops and lots of boats, not that our GPS could get us there. They are starting to set up for Halloween as all the businesses get involved and have started preparing their displays. We were keen to continue heading South to Ogunquit and Portsmouth but we still had a 2 hour drive ahead to the White Mountains. So off we went.Maine was in all as pretty as a picture. The houses are generally large and beautifully maintained with manicured lawns and ... read more

Geo: 42.9422, -71.4669Change of plans for the day. The weather predictions for tomorrow and the next day are for wet weather. So far we have been very lucky with the weather. We decided to do the White Mountain route today. Our trip began in the Green Mountains and Finger Lakes of Vermont. Here the hills are gently rounded and not very high. Between the hills are small lakes. Very picturesque. It is Saturday so many of the towns along the way have markets - one of which we stopped at.We stopped at Windsor which is considered to be the birthplace of Vermont in 1777.We headed North as far as St. Johnsbury and then South to Littleton which probably has more Second Hand/Antique shops than anywhere else we have been. The White Mountains are much higher with rock outcroppings and ... read more

Geo: 43.0708, -70.7782Bath is located south of where we were staying on Highway 1. The visitors bureau is an old railway station. The people there were very helpful. The town itself has many older buildings including one of the upper streets which has many grand old houses of various styles. The Maine Maritime Museum was a real treasure. The site of the museum was a facility for the construction of wooden ships and schooners in the past. The largest was the Wyoming. The metal sculpture representation is full size although the masts were about 50% higher than shown. It is hard to imagine the size of these wooden ships. The museum consisted of several buildings which illustrated the various processes involved in the construction of a wooden sailing ship. The City of Bath is known for its ... read more

Geo: 42.9831, -71.4545We are checked in and about to board our flight from JFK to Madrid, no turning back now. Our first day of this 38-day adventure may be the hardest. If all goes as planned, we fly from Baltimore to New York; to Madrid, Spain; to Bayonne, France, bus to the train station and arrive in St. Jean Pied de Port by train on the evening of September 7th; more than 17 hours of travel. There are dozens of pilgrim routes throughout Europe which lead to Santiago de Compostela. Some 200,000 make these treks each year. Like us, the largest percentage of those will take the Camino Frances, originating in St. Jean. We'll pass through over a hundred  towns and villages; Pamplona is the largest. There won't be a need to carry food, other than a few snacks, or ... read more

Adventure of a lifetime Just like every human being, I also have that one thing that I would put anything at its disposal. Traveling. if you tell me to travel from the north pole down across the whole globe and when I arrive at the south pole, ask me if I want to travel again. Delightfully, I will ask you the way to the next pole if at all it exist. Traveling is part of me. To this far, I have been to 14 countries starting from Asia, Europe and North America. The adventure has been thrilling making more aggressive in making more rampant tours. For the past months, I had been yearning to finish my school which I presumed to be restraining me from fully flexing my muscles on the road traveling. But to me ... read more

Geo: 42.865, -71.4939After getting Glenn some medication and some rest, I got a text message from Susie saying they could meet us at the Starbucks near the Outlet Mall. It was right next to the Q'dobe Restaurant we were originally meeting. The Starbucks was just .5 miles from where were were staying. Perfect location.Susie graduated from Lake Highlands with me in 1975. She went to OU for college. We probably saw each other at our 10 year class reunion. Susie recalls that she came over to 9511 back in 1999, she happened to be in town and we visited then. The connection goes farther, as Susie's younger sister, Leslie had 2 girls that attended JBU with Gary. And Susie's niece came to Guatemala several years ago and worked at an orphanage with CAM International. Another Small World ... read more

Geo: 42.8364, -71.0953Editor's NOTE: Normally Glenn proof-read's my blog and does some major editing, however I am not asking him to do this for me, since he needs a break. So bear with me if there are misspelled words and the grammar is incorrect. Thanks for reading. Also, I've changed the format for the most recent entry to be on top.Saturday - Garage Sale DayAfter breakfast, we got into the RAV 4 and followed my Garage Sale App to take us to garage sales in the area. We arrived at one place and Karen and Thomas purchased a used metal file cabinet for Karen to use and put her school work and stuff in. Plus Karen bought several BRAND new games that had never been used. Dad loaded up the file cabinet on the roof of ... read more

If I listed the location of this entry anywhere, it should be Maine, I-95. That's where I spent more time than anywhere else today. That means I don't have much to tell. The big news is that I've made it to Canada, where I'll be until a week from Monday. That's ten full days! It also means that my trip will usually have less driving while I'm here (except a couple of days, like tomorrow). But I'm hoping it's less stressful, and it's already cooled down considerably - within minutes of crossing the border, my car thermometer dropped to the low 60s F, and it hasn't gotten any warmer since then! My morning began earlier than I wanted. As I wrote yesterday, I was staying in a converted barn/house that had 2 chicken coops. The windows ... read more

While we did not find much cooler weather, at least the nights cool down now that we are close to the White Mountains area. We stayed at Newfound RV Park just outside of Plymouth in the center of New Hampshire with good access to the mountains, lakes and outlet shopping. We went to the Castle in the Clouds which is located up the mountain northeast of Lake Winnipesaukee. It is a beautiful house and lovely gardens and a view that is amazing. There is a very narrow one way road that you drive up to the parking area for the tour to the Castle. On the way up there is a pull out for a short hike to a lovely waterfall. At the parking area there I a gift shop and café and you catch the ... read more

Days 7 & 8. Early start yesterday for the long drive to Lincoln in New Hampshire, couple of stops on route until we hit the Kancamagus highway, supposedly one of the most scenic roads in New Hamshire, which we have to agree with, especially with the fall colours. Many stopping points & pull in, so many photo's! Hotel not as good as the previous one (think we were rather spoilt there). Another early start today to catch the 8.15 steam train on the cog railway to the top of Mount Washington. It takes an hour to be pushed up to the top, where the temperature was -5. Had an hour at the top & then came back down on the diesel train as it was too cold for the steam engine to stay up there. This afternoon ... read more
