Today we started with a lecture on New England history that was interesting and very well delivered. Then a tour at a local farm followed by a visit to the town of Woodstock, NH (nothing to do with the music festival).

After a few brief stops in the afternoon we drove to the Mountain View Grand Resort and Spa, at the foot of New Hampshire's White Mountains.

Dating from 1865, this 144-room grand hotel was rescued from dereliction with a major renovation in 2002-03. Our room is directly below the left brick chimney. Rack rate is USD 350/night.

Alcohol is only occasionally included, but the package does include any number of courses and dishes we want from the a la carte dinner menu.
