Fri, 7 Feb, 2014 We left Lone Pine and drove south to Mojave, then west through Tehachapi to Bakersfield. In places the wind was so strong we could feel the gusts against the truck and the camper. Along Hwy 58 there were empty soda cans and tumbleweeds blowing uphill. Around Tehachapi the dark clouds made everything look brown and dirty. Once we got to see Pat and Turner in Bakersfield, everything was sunshine again. We had so much fun laughing and catching up over pizza and adult beverages. Later we watched Jay Leno’s final Tonight Show, which Pat had recorded, and cried along with him. Saturday, 8 Feb Nancy and Linda both arrived this morning and we had more laughs over bagels and scones and gallons of coffee. What fun to be with favorite cousins after ... read more

Carlsbad, Las Cruces, Deming, Tucson, Camp Verde, Laughlin Well we have put a few miles on the van. All these travel days have much the same pattern. The dogs start to whimper from under the bed. So I roll off take a step and I’m in the bathroom. Then whether Ross has sat up or not I fold up the top duvet (now he’s up and dressing) and power the bed into a sofa. I put the table leg in and then I get dressed. Ross walks the dogs, I fire up the Rancilio and make breakfast. After eating it’s dishes then pack up and drive. The morning is either sightseeing locally or shopping or driving and then the afternoon is driving. We do photo stops regularly. The highlights have been good the last week. In ... read more

We stayed 3 Days in Mesquite and enjoyed the down time. When we left 1 hour was spent at the car wash just getting all the dirt off our trailer and truck. It was a beautiful day for our short drive to Laughlin Nevada. It was great to drive on good roads,no wind,no snow ,no rain. The scenery here is beautiful all the way to Las Vegas mountains on both sides desert in between. And then there was Vegas even though we planned not to stop here it was still exciting and very tempting to go to my favourite Italian restaurant "mmmmm"the chicken with lemon sauce is amazing. I remember coming here for the 1st time it was so small we just drove in and the Flamingo was only 2 floors. Now the road in is, I ... read more

What a weekend full of pure chaos. Four days of a sneak peak into the life of a "river rat." The culmination of days, weeks, and months of planning rolled into four days of river fun. We were a group of twenty mostly made up of some type of asian descent from the suburbs of southern california. Our vices: a houseboat that slept 12, a Tigre wakeboarding boat, two high-powered fussy Yamaha waverunners and more cases/handles of liquor that one could comprehend. We were in for some trouble. The weekend started off great. Most of us had arrived early, checked in the boat, loaded the boat, and launched the two waverunners. By late Thursday night, we were waiting on two cars, one of which had the boat. Then the dreaded text came in, "ughhhh we're lost." ... read more

Arrived Laughlin late afternoon. Went into the Tropicana to check the RV in...Leslie @ the security desk couldn’t believe we were going to “live” in the RV...thought for sure we’d be back in the hotel before long!! It was 110 out, and did take a good while to cool things off!!! We had their buffet and walked across the street to the Colorado Belle and the Aquarius. G played cards for a bit, then home again. 8-18-10 Got coffee this am at Aquarius and I surfed @ Starbucks while G played cards. We left for Oatman to check out the “wild donkeys”!! We followed the GPS directions and ended up going over a goat trail to get there...nearly shook the teeth out of my head...Of course, the “gunfight” was at 2:15 and we arrived @ 2:30...our ... read more
