Up very slowly today - feeling pretty rough!
We had breakfast at The Orleans buffet - wow! I always love restaurants at any Boyd property … all this changed today. We went down about 10:30. They had already almost completely converted over to lunch. Boo. The food they had was just not good and some non-edible. The server was so rude and slow. I asked for a spoon and the server told me a couple of spots on the buffet I could find one!!!
Okay breakfast done - we are going to take a bit easier today!
First stop Mandalay Bay - we had vouchers for the Shark Reef Exhibit. It is a very very long walk back where the exhibit is. That being said it is a very lovely aquarium, small but lovely. It is set up like you are going through some underground ancient ruin.
Next up - Shelby American - he is such a Ford man! It is a free tour but check for times on their website. We caught the last tour of the day at 1:30 pm. You can just walk through the exhibit area you don't need the guided tour. It's
about 20 cars and various items on the walls. With the tour you do get to walk into a walled off area of the garage - then sign the wall! The nice older man doing the tour was an acquaintance of Shelby and he has a lot to say. The normal 45 minute tour was 1.5 hours that day. Oh well my husband really enjoyed it. Uncle Buddy wandered about then found a bench for a quick nap and I found goodies in the merchandise area.
Then on to The Atomic Testing Museum. Entrance was $20 - had a buy one get one coupon. My husband and uncle went. They like to really look at stuff like this so I opted out! 😊 They said the museum was top notch and very informative.
I had them drop me off at Ellis Island Casino just down the road. I had a great time playing some free play then winning at blackjack. The guys came in and gambled a bit too. We were having dinner with our brother in law Bill that commutes to Las Vegas for work each week. He called around 6 pm that he
David outside of Shelby American
This would be a dream car for him! was done working and would meet us at the pub.
We ate at McMullen’s Irish Pub - it is right across the side street from our hotel. We had heard loads of good things about his place. Dinner and beers were outstanding. True Irish fare and lot's of craft beers. Hubs even partook in the drinking of a few beers as we only had to go across a parking lot. After dinner Uncle Buddy was still a bit rough from Monday night so he walked over to the hotel for an early night. We hung out with Bill and stayed for their Tuesday night trivia night! Quite fun. About 10:30 we were done.
I had originally planned for us to do a night visit to the strip and a few activities there; but both of us were awfully tired and a bit drunk so we stayed in. Hubby and I split ways in the casino. I played for a bit, then a bit of shopping in the gift shop then went up for early night. Not sure when David came in.
