A breathtaking display
ok, imagine the music - 'time to say goodbye' Andreas Bocelli GLITZ, GLAM AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN…
The scenery is changing once again and so are our outfits! We went from thick hoodie jackets to shorts, flip flops and strappy tops in just a couple of hours.
We drove through the Mojave Desert and saw quite a few Joshua trees, they look so lonely in this rugged landscape but still so graceful and proud.
About 10hours of driving later we were welcomed by tall buildings and Palm trees, “Welcome to Las Vegas”!!!!! We drove down the strip in search of a hotel that would suit everyone’s’ needs, after taking a look in a brand new hotel with about 4000 rooms the decision was made to keep on looking..it’s very scary thinking about the size of these hotels!
We finally found rest at the Venetian. What a gorgeous hotel! All the fine trimmings, art on ceilings and glittering lights, oh there was so many pretty things to look at. (and a few dodgy).
As per routine….dump bags in room, freshen up and hit the road. It was already getting dark so we could see all the pretty lights and billboards light up sky. There were people everywhere, it’s a case of ‘shuffle
along’ with the rest of the crowd on the pavement or else you get left behind. There were so many shows and street entertainers filling the air with their own sounds and music….It was busy, loud and hot! Also scary to see how many young people were already intoxicated and swaying on the pavements as they tried to make it from one casino or club to another, and let’s say they weren’t exactly ‘modestly’ dressed…
We finally made it to the Bellagio where the water fountain display is, we stood around and then we were treated by an amazing display of lights, water and the sound of Andreas Boccelli “time to say goodbye”, wow that was a ‘goosebump’ 5 minutes!! I managed to record a few minutes of it and then my battery died! DaRn!!!!
Sleepy eyed and sweaty from the heat we joined the flow of bodies down the pavement towards our hotel..
The next morning…
After a very fruity breakfast (ahhh finally something natural and unsweetened) we set off for the Hoover Dam and some retail outlet shopping.
Hoover Dam is Huge!!!! Such a high wall and there is no protective barrier stopping people from just getting
on the wall and jumping off!! It was very hot in the sun and we walked quite a bit, so we were slightly sun-kissed! So from now on I will have to keep the sunscreen close by..
Then off to a retail outlet where we spent about 2 hrs browsing and spending...hehee!
We got home, went for a swim and then hit the Strip again! This time we were taken to the original Vegas strip that you see in old movies, we saw Lucky Luke, Lady Luck (well that's what I call them) and gazillions of pretty lights! They were even playing a few Rock numbers in the 'street', it was so exciting to be walking in a road with so much history! never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would walk here!
We were then dropped off on the new side of town to visit the tiny market, it was almost midnight and we were speed walking through the crowds to get back to the hotel! Up early tomorrow! We leave at 7am!
Gooodbye Las Vegas!!!
