My Ski School pupils
Day one on the mountain Well well well...... last week we were graced with the presence of Ma and Pa Wetton..... We spent the first 3 days skiing. Nat was instructor and her 3 pupils did exceedingly well!
With Nat's Ski School officially up and running, it was all go on the mountain as we snowploughed, parallel turned and fell down each piste in turn. We even had our own lookalike ski patroller with Dave in his red jacket!
I thought skiing seemed easier to pick up than boarding, and less painful, but it seems a lot harder when you go off piste or hit moguls. On a snowboard you can just absorb quite a lot of it, and it seems easier having just one plank strapped to you feet than worrying about two! I got a little ahead of myself and attempted a run called 'the face', all I can say is that I got down, but zero points for style.
We spent the next few days around the area on beach walks, mountain walks, pic nics, hot springs & visit to the Wild West town of Virginia City.....where we saw a $65,000 gold nugget encrusted Rolex in one of the jewellery
zoooooooommmmm....
Dave on the Skyline trail shops. After checking our pockets we made our best offer of $14.77, which was suprisingly rejected, and were promptly shown the door by a lady with a big perm/wig.
one of our visits took us to beautiful Emerald Bay, where we ate our lunch at the top of a waterfall overlooking the bay. Its a great view, and you can take the mile hike to the bay to see the beach and an old scandinavian style lodge in the bay.
In other news we have been raising much needed funds by selling things on ebay, we sold the broken laptop for more than we paid, which is a good result, and sold nats skis too.
Apparently there has also been a brown bear around who has tipped over the dumpster at our resort and ripped open the lid, we are thinking of setting up overnight surveillance to catch him, or perhaps a ray mears style trap to catch him.
