There's more to see in Goldfield, NV, than the car forest I posted about separately. Goldfield was a happening place in the first decade of the 20th century due to the discovery of gold — between 1903 and 1940, Goldfield's mines produced more than $86 million.(wikipedia). Today it is the home to just under 300 people and a lot of "ghosts"(history) of miners who searched through its hills for gold. For whatever reason I fell in love with Goldfied. I even got the t-shirt... and a ring with a flake of gold in it. There's nothing much about this town... yet at the same time it incites the imagination and curiosity like few other places. The sign reads "National Junk Car Forest." Others have called it "International Car Forest of the Last Church." Either way, Chad Sorg, who I did not meet, is said to be the art force behind this place that is so very cool! Cars are standing up, or head down in the ground, and artists come by and paint of them. Where else have you seen such a thing! This is located in the southern edge of Goldfield, NV, up on a hill. You must look carefully or you'll miss it. The street is unmarked.
