Beatty, NV, is a tiny town of 800 people. There is a casino, a bar, a Dennys, a Museum, a candy store, some hotels, a thrift shop, a general store, a few burros... But it's quite close to the Death Valley National Park, and that keeps people coming through.
El Portal Motel is where I write from right now. Simple, quiet, the room has a microwave and a refrigerator, cable, and a flawless, included in the price, wi-fi. Better than you can say about Las Vegas' hotels. It's all good.
