OK, we left Fremont Monday morning at about 7:30. The short story: we drove across Yosemite, down the Sierra Nevadas, crossed Death Valley, stopped in Rhyolite (ghost town), the stopped for the night in Pahrump, NV.
The drive across CA to Yosemite was uneventful. No major queeziness in the windy sections, but we did stop for a break shortly thereafter. Then on into the park. I had forgotten how far of a drive it is to cross the park. We stopped at the overlook at Olmsted Point and followed the path out to the look out point.

After leaving the park, we drove down 395 through the mountains southward, and stopped in Bishop for a late lunch. We saw forest fires in the distance, which led to a heavy smoke cover. We saw some elk on the side of the road too. The drive down into Death Valley was long and windy.
We stopped at an overlook and snapped a few pictures
Our last major stop was in the ghost town of Rhyolite. An old mining town, apparently abandoned by about 1915. There are a dozen our so remaining structures, or at least ruins thereof. But on the road into town, there was an outdoor art exhibit, which had some interesting exhibits:

Then on to the actual town. Here's the old school building

A house made out beer and ale bottles, collected from the local saloon
Other pictures from town
And lastly, the Rhylite train depot
That's it for the day's travels. Tuesday brings Las Vegas. In not sure what we're going to see or do yet, but it starts with lunch...
Later, folks...
