Our week on horseback in the wilderness was a truly fantastic experience. We spent the whole week in the Bob Marshall Wilderness, which is the biggest wilderness area in the lower 48 states. 10,000 square miles of mountains, with no roads, settlements, and no mechanical tools or vehicles allowed, technically an electric razor's not even allowed in! So the terrain is as wild as it's going to get, if there's a fire, they let it burn. Vast areas of forest burn each summer, leaving haunting forests of burnt out trunks. But they quickly grow back firstly with wild flower meadows. Lots of valleys with crystal clear rivers running through and mountains in the background. Caught a direct flight on Wed from LAX to Missoula, where our friends Ken and Joyce Jensen picked us up. We drove out to their log home near Seeley Lake to spend a couple of days before the Grizzly football game. This is an unbelievable home set at the top of a small valley, with a stream below, and a view that reaches forever towards the mountains. We explored the area around Seeley, drank some good wine, and played a few games. Tried to build a snow man, but the snow was so dry it wouldn;t stick together so we built a snow "Creature". Went to the game on Saturday, another heat wave around 18 degrees. We saw some old friends, and had a blast sitting with the "North End Zone Crazies". We lost to our ... read more

Today was a traveling day and these pictures will most likely only be enjoyed by the girls. First stop was Seeley Lake and Tamarack. Next pics are for Kristen of Whitefish. We will meet up the Kerri tomorrow and post more. Sorry to bore those who don't know the stories behind these pictures. Oh by the way, we haven't haven't figured out why the farther north we go the warmer it gets !! It was 69 whe we first pulled into Kalispell and got up to 74 in Whitefish. Go figure !
