Wednesday, October 8th - Drive to West Glacier, MT. Reservations @ Great Northern Whitewater Raft & Resort, 12127 US Highway 2 East, West Glacier, MT, Phone = 800-735-7897. Hiked near Lake McDonald, the Avalanche Lake trail, then along McDonald Creek. Pics Below:

Anne and I started our hiking trips back in 2001 and have managed to get two or three trips in each year since. Most of the trips were part of our quest to hike in all of the US National Parks, a quest we completed in 2015 with our trip to Alaska and the Gates of the Arctic and Kobuk Valley parks. At that time there were 59 parks. Since 2015 we have revisited some of our favorite areas and those have been blogged as well. Lake McDonald

Traveling west on the Going to the Sun Road this is the first lake you pass before climbing into the real mountains.

McDonald Creek

After doing the Avalanche Trail we drove up the Going to the Sun Road a ways then back down and did a bit of hiking along this creek which feeds Lake McDonald.

Neat one Bedroom cabin. Two stories with BR on upper floor, Kitchen and living area (including the Bath - read 'many trips down & up the stairs during the night') on 1st floor.
