Today was a good milege day and a great sightseeing day.

We started out with a tailwind and it stuck with us all day.

I believe it was the fastest 61 miles I have ridden since leaving Yorktown. 4:35

We even took a gravel diversion for about 12 miles.

That was the prettiest part of the day. We saw numerous deer hopping fences and crossing the road in front of us.

We even saw a Red Fox cross the road. That was really cool.

During the divert, out in the middle of nowhere we happened upon a deserted building with the name Silver Springs Hotel over the impressive front door.
(I included a picture.)

We thought maybe we would stop in Twin Bridges for the day, but we couldn’t pass up great tailwinds and continued on to Dillion.

Dillion is a good sized town and has many restaurants. We even stopped at the Patagonia outlet stood for a look.

Once again Jane was there with the trailer all set up and she handed us a chocolate milk each as we pulled up.

That is a great recovery drink!

After a quick shower, and tent set up, we took off for another Gold Rush Ghost Town called Bannack.

This time, however, Bannack has been left in its abandoned state, except some structures were reinforced to prevent collapsing.

We could walk through most of the 60 building left as they were.

Bannack was the site of Montana’s first Gold strike in 1862,

There were over 60 buildings left in their former state

What a great visit.

Tomorrow we are off for Jackson or Wisdom.

Can’t wait.
