I was exhausted last night after getting to my parents house at nearly 1am and then unloading all of my stuff. I managed to carry most of it upstairs before I passed out.

I did a test packing of my bag and daypack. It seems right now that my bag is about 20lb and my daypack, about 7 with the laptop inside. I hope to keep my total under 27lbs, but this might not be possible. Some of the airlines in Europe have really strict weight limits (11lb?) on carry-ons so it might be a pointless attempt to make the cut.

Zip-lock bags are great. The only problem is that the required air that is left inside of them around the object wastes a lot of space in your bag. I'm going to leave all my zip-locks vented so I can fit more items in my bag. If rain comes, I'll seal them all.

Good to see the family again.
