(or the ditch) following Sara and Trevor in Earendil.

We dawdled this morning since we were just going across Yellow Creek to Aqua Yacht Harbor Marina. Once there, we took on 84.55 gallons of fuel before tying up at the transient dock. After lunch we borrowed the courtesy car and the four of us went to Walmart in Corinth, MS. Sara and Trevor needed to replenish supplies and Kerry was looking for a new transducer for the depth finder. When he couldn’t find one, he just ordered one from Amazon to be delivered to Demopolis. After supper we enjoyed hot showers before turning in early.

We were up early, but fog again kept us from leaving until nearly nine. We are finally heading south on the TennTom. It was not far to the Divide Cut, a man-made canal, that is 24.7 miles long, a constant 280’ wide, with rip rap on both sides. It’s not so much ugly as tedious due to the sameness of the scenery (or lack thereof.) Once through the cut, the waterway opens up into Bay Springs Lake, much prettier and varied, with coves and inlets. We anchored back in a quiet cove. Kerry brought Sara over

in the dink, then Sara went and got Trevor. After supper they took the dinghy back to their boat.

This morning there were a dozen or more black pigs on the shore, scampering around. Sara and Trevor towed the dinghy today, since they had it last night and it’s easier for them to come aboard our boat from the dink than it would be for me to climb onto their boat.

Today we went through 3 locks, Whitten Lock with an 84’ drop, Montgomery Lock which drops 30’, and Rankin Lock with a 30’ drop. We didn’t have to wait long for any of them, and locked through all three with another cruising boat. The locks are in touch with each other and know when there is a group of boats coming along. Even though we got kind of spread out, the lockmaster waited for the slowest boat.

We are anchored just above Fulton Lock, near Fulton, MS. We stopped early, at 2:30, because sometimes the length of your days depends on the availability of good anchorages.
