I drove to Minneapolis and before I could even board the plane we found out that the plane we were supposed to take had mechanical issues. This caused the plane to turn around and head back to Chicago. By the time the plane was ready and on its’ way back to Minneapolis, our flight from Chicago to Dublin was about to take off. All four people I was traveling with from our group jumped on the phones with American Airlines. Three of the four of us had purchased travel insurance, but each of us was put on different flights to different places. I was supposed to have a 26 hour layover in Chicago which would cause me to get to Dublin a day late….and I would travel the rest of the way alone. One of the ... read more

We’ve had some absolutely great days with Jenny in Circle Pines, Minneapolis. Jenny has been the best hostess and we were really spoiled from day one. It’s impossible to describe all the wonderful experiences and memories of the days here, but here are a few. We celebrated the eighth birthday of Nicoline and Christopher – with visits to the “Mall of America”, and the making of a beautiful and delicious birthdaycakecastle. We have been on fun bikerides to the beach, ipad shopping with Elizabeth, fun with the walkie-talkies, talking all night, sleeping in, eating huge icecreams (making good on a thirty year old promise), walking tacos, root beer floats, listening to U2 live, starting a collection of quarters representing each of the 50 states and seeing amazing fireworks. Yesterday we visited the historic site, Fort Snelling, ... read more

... read more

We got into the campground near the twin cities, Minneapolis, St. Paul, on the 7th of July. We spent three days there visiting with Sharyn"s family. We went to dinner with Ted, her brother, the second night. The Next day we joined her twin, Shirley, youngest sister Patti, at brother Jim"s Home. Brothers Barry and Dave also were there. Barry is a twin to the oldest sister, Barb, who could not attend. Various spouces were also there. During the day on the eighth while doingm a little maintenance on the camper, I hit my head and required 6 stiches to fix. Except for the embarassment, all is well now. We left the cities for Peqote Lakes, MN. We always rent a cabin on a nice fishing lake where my family went for vacations, starting when I ... read more

The following is a direct transcription of a page dated 6/19/08 bearing the title "Truth in Advertising" and was written somewhere between Minneapolis and London. I have an idea. NWA should change it's name to GFYPA, or Go Fuck Yourself, Passenger Airlines. For starters, there are children, CHILDREN in bulkheads and the (I assume) lonely Asian lady at check in basically ignored me when I asked about exit rows. First things first though. So, my flight lands, does all the taxi bullshit for WAAAAAYYYY TOO LONG and left me less than 30 minutes to reach my plane. No biggie, because they have tan attendant at the gate to tell me where my next gate is, right? RIGHT? They have that, don't they? Not so much. It appears that the basic customer service is too much to ... read more

Hey- I'm just trying this out. I'm supposed to be studying for my Spanish final tomorrow, but this is the best form of procrastination I can find. I'm so excited to go. I don't really know what to expect, which makes it even better. I know I'm going to have an amazing time- I can't wait to speak Spanish, meet all of the people, see the land, ride the cable car, ride a freezing cold bus...everything just seems so different there, but in the best way possible. But that's it for now. I just wanted to see how this works. Love!... read more

So I left Chicago at Midnight on Monday night (well, tuesday morning if you must). 9 hours later, 6 spent crammed behind two large American women who, almost in unision with the start up of the bus engine, reclined their chairs and spent the entire bus ride that way, laptops out, movies playing and snacks out. It was a shame that I was travelling at night because i missed all of the American Country side which would have been nice. But!...The great thing about the Greyhound is that you get to experience very random country towns (albiet usually only for an hour at the most) that you would otherwise never get to see. Anyone been to Eau Claire, Madison, Middleton..anyone? They are pretty interesting places, a provide a little more insight, however small, to the American ... read more
