This is a 20 kilometres rail trail located just west of Port Huron Michigan.

Starting at Wadhams, the first 8 kilometres are paved between Griswold Road and McLain Road.

The remaining 12 kilometres between McLain Road and Avoca is crushed limestone and fairly smooth.

Large clear mileage markers are located every ½ mile indicating distance South or North from Mill Creek Trestle.

There are portable toilets at Avoca, Imlay City Road and Lapeer Road.

There are four parking/staging areas (two near each end of the trail.) In Wadams take exit 196 from i-69 and go north. Immediately on the left you will see a Speedway station. Parking is about 100 metres south of the station. If you right on the trail it continues for about 1 mile and is not that interesting. Go left on the trail towards Avoca. There is one convenience store in Avoca just a few metres from the staging area. Also porta potty and covered picnic area but no water.

Trail maps behind glass covering can be viewed.

There is no water available on the trail.

There are a fair number of road crossings, but barriers give you plenty of warning.

Fast Food is available (Wendy’s McDonalds) within view of the trail, at the Wadhams parking area

There is one bench, but no tables or garbage bins except at Avoca

The trail is mostly shaded. Depending on the heat and humidity and time of year, mosquitoes and deer flies could be problem (especially if you stop.)

Horses are allowed and you may come across a LOT of horse manure on the trail! Horses use the same trail so on the limestone section, their hoofs dig in a little bit and can make for a slightly rough ride.

We nicknamed this trail “rabbit alley” as we saw 8 rabbits on our trip!

The highlight of this bike trip is the rail trestle spanning Mill Creek, about 2 km south of Avoca. The trestle is 195 metres (640 feet) above the creek. Four viewing areas make for great vistas.

There are three campgrounds close to the trail (KOA is right on the trail)
