Our departure from Rutland, Vermont, headed to Boston for Martin Luther King weekend was a bit delayed because of treacherous road conditions. Once we got on the road, Beth, and her new car, handled the condition very well. It was my first "On Star" experience and I highly recommend it (although I still used the map feature on my phone). We got into our rooms at the Faneuil Hall Hilton, 89 Broad St, earlier than the posted check in time, freshened up and headed out for the Old Town Trolley (I bought us three-day tickets on-line in advance for 30% of the rack rate). We got our money's worth with "BEAR" our Boston driver/narrator. He took us from the Quincy Market stop along the harbor through the North End (Little Italy) to the stop for the ... read more

Geo: 42.3585, -71.0596We were up early for our last Luques breakfast before Lorie's shuttle picked us up for the trip to the airport for our flight to Boston. We flew with Virgin America and had a perfectly pleasant flight. After arriving at Logan Airport. we caught two taxis to our hotel, The Lenox in the Back Bay. We had booked an executive room with a fireplace, as we knew that Boston would be cold. Luckily for S and J, they too were upgraded to a fireplace room. Here is my review of the Lenox Hotel: https://www.tripadvisor.com.au/ShowUserReviews-g60745-d114134-r356682737-Lenox_Hotel-Boston_Massachusetts.htmlWe had a late dinner at Sola's Irish Pub in the hotel, before sharing a nightcap before the fire.... read more

Hi all We are now sitting in a hotel room in Boston having left our base this morning in Pepperell, Massachusetts. Since Niagara we have visited a few more places, namely Salisbury beach and Hampton Beach where there were some beautiful summer homes just like you see in the movies. We also went to Cape Cod again and visited a lovely little town called Falmouth where we saw some wild turkeys just wandering around (making the most of it before thanksgiving!) and there were lots of scarecrows in various types of dress outside shops in the main street depending on the shop they were depicting. We had our lunch in the car that day, parked right in front of the beach, sun shining so wound the windows down and had a little nap, only to be ... read more

We arrived in Boston after a fairly successful overnight journey from Washington – the coach was empty and we managed to commandeer a whole row each, making lying down possible and almost comfortable! With a day to spare until the much anticipated arrival of Ebba and Anna, we decided to head out to New Haven, Connecticut, to see Yale University. It was well worth a trip and we spent a lovely warm, sunny afternoon pottering around the university grounds, through the Old Campus ‘intellectual spotting’ – there were many bespectacled hipsters sitting around under trees pretending to be intelligent. The next day, we arrived at Boston Airport with hours to spare, excited to see our guests… Anna arrived first and she and I were deep in conversation as birthday girl Ebba seemed to appear out of ... read more

My beautiful cousin was getting married and what better way to celebrate than to join them as she became hitched and then following that up with an extremely early morning with the destination being Boston to run a race. This isn't the first time Derik and I have done wedding than race but it might be the only time that he wanted to kill me for it. But I mean when groupon comes out with a deal for the Boston Raid... and you are only an hour away... why not take advantage of it?????? That is the question I posed towards Derik with my puppy dog eyes and he gave in.. because he loves me.. or because I was annoying and he didn't want to hear any more about that race. YAY We headed out later ... read more

Hello Boston Fans, Boston Travelers and Travelers. Taking people back to history of Massachusetts by traveling to the streets of Boston. OMG....I love Boston Massachusetts a lot. I drove from Virginia to Massachusetts which was very nice. I really liked seeing parts of Brooklyn,New York; New Jersey; Connecticut; Delaware, Rhode Island, etc. I've been to many states in New England and Mid-Atlantic. But focusing on the topic of Boston, Massachuetts. I would like to explain a couple of interesting things that I would think you should check out. Every place is different so Massachusetts isn't the same as where your hometown of state or country. So check out Masachuetts. Okay literally the Battle of the Bunker Hill that literally occured in teh 1700s had been really thrilling. Boston Americans (I should say) literally were defeated by ... read more

Hi Everyone Just to let you know we are still alive and kicking and eternally grateful that our two sons bought Dave a Sat Nav for his birthday! We are having an 'awesome' time. We appear to have hit New England at just the right time for 'leaf peeping'! The colours of the trees take your breath away, golds, reds, oranges and all shades of greens. It really is exactly as you imagine, as are the houses in the area. Typically New England style with clapboard and porches with rocking chairs, painted in subtle pastel colours, creams, whites, pale blues, greys, and so much space around them. And one of the first things we noticed was how BIG Halloween is here. Since we arrived on the 2nd October we have seen so many pumpkins adorning houses, ... read more

BOSTON - Destination of hidden meanings I haven't blogged much these past year and a half, since most of my trips have not been exciting at all. I came and went to cancer centers to get treatment, most of the time. Who would like to read about that on a travelblog, right? BOSTON was different though. The Universe had other plans for me up its "sleeves". Memorable new connections and re-connection with special people happened because I came to Boston, and I also got to enjoy some very good times there.. The city is gorgeous, easy to navigate on public transportation, Lyft or Uber; the air is crisp and fresh during the time I visited. Food is great, from vegan to … everything. There is also so much history and so many nice sites to visit. ... read more

Before Joe and I decided to go on our RV adventure my friend, Maurine and I had booked a photography cruise out of Newark, NJ. It was an educational and fun cruise. The next few posts will be from the cruise. As you can see from the pictures I was really interested in the architecture and the fall colors. What surprised us most about Boston was how small the city is. Our trolley tour went all through Boston and it took less than 2 hours.... read more
