My Little Handyman !
Tim putiing a handle on the new cabinet he built for the motor home. I heard the first rain drops somewhere around 3 am this morning. I opened one eye long enough to make sure it was rain pounding down on the motor home and not something else and then I fell quickly back to sleep. Don’t ya just love sleeping in the rain ?? I do, and that’s exactly what I did until about 9 o’clock or so. Tim kept nudging me telling me we needed to get up but all I wanted to do was just listen to the rain bouncing off the rooftop. I eventually had to roll out of bed and get things going so I got on up and made my way to the shower. Once I was done, the guys got up and they began getting ready too. After breakfast in the motor home, Tim and Jon made our first official trip to Wally World. We were already out of oatmeal and cheezit’s so they went in to pick up some more as well as a few other things. Things like hot pink fingernail polish, cotton balls and polish remover. After that crazy woman at the nail salon splattered hot pink polish all over my favorite white capri pants,
my darn manicure didn’t even last a week. I must say the boys picked out a nice color for me and I proceeded to attempt to paint my finger nails while they packed up the motor home and got us ready to hit the road. It didn’t work very well (now I know why I pay somebody to do it !) so I’ll just have to get back to painting tonight ! Everyone had told us so much about Boston and we were really anxious to get on over there. We had a list of recommendations and we got started checking things off right away. Our first stop was Fenway Park and then it was on to see the Public Gardens. It was still raining at this point so we just opened the windows a little and took in the sights as Tim drove us around town. Yes, we drove the streets of Boston in a 36 foot motor home and boy did we get some strange looks ! We took Belvedere Street over to Beacon Street and passed by Copley Place, the Boston Public Library and the John Hancock Tower on the way. Next, we circled around the Public
Garden, the Theatre District, Chinatown, Beacon Hill and Boston Common for about an hour or so until the rain finally subsided. I’m thinking that my version of “Rain, Rain, Go Away” might have helped a little but I can’t be sure. Regardless, the rain did decide to go away so we eventually found a parking place over on the corner of Tremont and Berkeley Streets and we began our journey throughout every little nook and cranny of Boston. Tim was just chomping at the bit to see “Cheers”, one of his all time favorite shows, so he hailed us a cab and we headed right on over. It was really cool ! He was so excited, just like a small kid in a candy shop ! We decided to go ahead and stay there for lunch so we grabbed a table and took a seat. He and Jon insisted that we all have a cold beer in honor of the occasion. Although I’m not a beer drinker, I did order a Coors Light, in the souvenir glass, and Tim made a toast. I took a couple of sips and then passed it on over to Jon to finish up. I’m
sorry but I just can’t stand the taste of beer ! Now give me a nice glass of white zinfandel and I’ll be a happy camper. Gosh, I just realized that sentence sounds kinda snooty ! Oh well, I’m NOT snooty so let’s just move on with the story ! Jon and I had to endure Tim’s imitations of Norm, in almost every single episode, while we were trying to enjoy our lunch. Some of them were quite strange but we didn’t care because we love him and if that’s what made him happy then who were we to rain on his parade. I think he has every episode memorized thanks to the complete set of “Cheers” on DVD that Jason gave him for Christmas a couple of years ago. Well, we finished up our lunch and the guys finished up their beer, we took the grand tour and then we hit the pavement to see what else we could get into. Our very sweet waitress gave us a sightseeing map and some good tips so once we were outside we caught a taxi and went all the way over to the North End of Boston. This is where we
began the official Freedom Trail tour throughout the city. We started with the Old North Church, you know, the “One if by land, two if by sea” place and then made our way by foot over to Paul Revere’s House. The three of us continued to follow the red brick trail until we came upon the Faneuil Hall Marketplace. It’s the “no taxation without representation” building just in case you were wondering. It’s really close to the Quincy Market so we strolled over there to get a couple of bottles of water and take a bathroom break. We were on a mission so the break didn’t last very long; we soon headed over to the Old State House and the sight of the Boston Massacre. Okay, I ain’t gonna lie, that was pretty freaky ! We happen to run across a Boston Harley Davidson store so you know I had to go in and get Patrick a t-shirt. Oh yea, we just happen to go by a bakery too so of course we had to stop in and try a piece of homemade Boston Crème Pie ! Do I even have to tell you how wonderfully delicious it was ?
At this point, we had pretty much seen all the major sights plus a ton of churches, hotels, theatres and parks so we decided to call it a day and head on back to the motor home. We were taking up four parking meters and had only gone back once during the day to refill them so we had our fingers crossed that there wasn’t going to be a parking ticket on the windshield or a boot on the tires when we got there. Well, there wasn’t either one but now I’m just hoping that they didn’t decide to mail it to us because we won’t be there to get it and then it will be late and so on and so on and so on. Oh well, no since in worrying about the unknown. What I do know is that we had just spent six hours zipping through Boston and we had an awesome time doing so. We didn’t get to cross over the Charleston Bridge to see the USS Constitution “Old Ironsides” but, in my mind, that just gives us an excuse to come back someday. Tim fooled around with Magellan (navigational system) for a few minutes and
then we headed on up the road straight for Salem. We road around Salem for about an hour taking in all the sights but by the time we made it to the Salem Witch Museum, it was closed. We also found the House of the Seven Gables which was the inspiration and setting for Nathaniel Hawthorne’s novel but it was already closed too. It was getting late and the rain decided to return so we just really wanted to find somewhere to stay for the night. The closest RV park was up in Cape Ann near Gloucester so we called them to check for vacancies and they said to come on up. The young lady that answered the phone was closing up for the night but she said she would wait for us at the end of the road so we quickly made our way there and got settled in. Tim, Jon and I ate dinner, watched a little tv, relaxed and then called it a night. I think we’re headed up to New Hampshire and Vermont tomorrow so you know I’m excited to explore some more new territory ! Hope you’re having a great Summer too ! Night !

How to see Boston in a few hours!!
I'm glad the rain stopped long enough for you to take the world wind tour of Boston. But hey, you saw most of the places that I suggested. I'm just glad to see that you actually 'listen' to me!!!
